I always thought that FA was to add a couple of high priced players to push a team to the next level. Miami has used it, so far, to get to mediocrity. This is not a good thing but, with only half the starters coming from the draft, the only thing.

This year, we got a ton of money, many holes to fill, and we need to spend every dollar to hopefully get us at least into the damn playoffs. The cap is going up, and this is likely the last year to get VG young players.

Next year, we have little to worry about, as our only FA's worth mentioning are Clay and Odrick, and we will save some money on Wallace, etc with the cap going up again. This is the year when Hickey has to make things happen on our roster. No reason to save anything, Hickey has to spend or, we will be stuck at 7-8 wins for at least 3 more years.

I dont understand why you post the threads you do. I mean this is a very simular thread to the one you made yesterday. It seems like you just post as if you're 'thinking out loud'.

Good point, and I do apologize for the repetition on some threads. I'm a project manager in construction, and allow a couple of other Phinatics access to post on my computer. It's not a lot but, I should check on what they posted before beating a dead horse. The threads/posts are usually what we had been talking about, and when I get busy, I have not checked what they have posted. I will correct that, and thanks for pointing it out.

We do have a lot of fun in bringing this forum into our discussions/debates, and even bet on how many replies a thread will get. LOL

I've always thought free agency should be to fill backup roles, and the draft should be used to get the stars. FA will kill your cap if you use it every year to add starters.

This will change once we have more production from the draft picks, and FA is always more exp than drafting.

Agree but, what chance do we have of filling our needs in this years draft? All we need is 4 starting guys on the OL, 2 DT's, 1 or 2 CB's, a Safety, and let's not forget those who want a TE, RB, and LB from this draft.

I'm not Gravity but, do see the numbers not adding up. lol

And when is that coming? Even IF we hit on some picks this year, and the next, they will take some time to adapt. This year's team is going to be all about Hickey's success or failure in FA, and REALLY hope he gets it right.

Yes and no, if you look at how Miami played last year, the big thing will be fix the O-line, if they do, Miami has a very good shot of making the playoffs. As for DT, Odrick and one of the two FA (Soliai/Starks) will be fine, Clemmons and Grimes will be resigned.

After those players are signed, any other position Miami is able to upgrade (TE or RB) will be gravy, because once the O-line is fixed, miraculously Miami will be able to run and pass much better then 2013.

You sure it's other people and not other personalities? LOL....Hahahahahaha Sorry you walked into that one and have known me long enough to know I can't let it pass by!!!

The bad thing is there is a lot of teams with tons of money to spend;

Oak - $65m
Jax - $55m
Cle - $51m
Indy - $39
Mia - $38
Phil - $35 (Peters will cut into that)
GB - $34
Min - $34
Seven more team with $20m, so 15 teams have over $20m to spend. There will be a lot of competition for players.

LOL. Although I can take both sides of almost any debate, I do sometimes defer to others but, not often. You have to come down to South Beach just once to understand. I made the same offer to Brian when he was coming to a game but, he passed. It is something somewhat special.

Don't see any team, other than Indy, looking at the same players on the OL.
