With all of these new faces coming in this off-season, I was curious as to which many of you think will make the best addition to our secondary. Also, those of you who attend TC, who are you most interested in keeping an eye on this year....

I know the S position will be a fun battle to see unfold. I can't wait to see how Y. Bell has progressed, he impressed me last year, and I hope he can become a mainstay back there. Also, I'm going to be keeping a close eye on W. Poole, and see if he looks completely healed. He was going to be a solid addition until getting hurt last year. I hope he and Daniels can take the next step....

Any thoughts???...I think the secondary is really our only major area of concern on defense, and I'm happy with the guys we've got this off-season...

PHINZ RULE!!!

I can see a starting backfield of Y Bell and Allen at safety with Daniels and W. Allen at DB. I think we will have good depth for nickel and dime. I liked Bell alot when healthy as well. He has the speed to make plays. IF only he can stay healthy!

I like the depth that we have when it comes to the corner position. If Will Poole could be the nickel back that would be one less area of concern.

Training Camp

I go to alot of sessions at the training camp. I will give you updates of my opinion.

If Poole comes back healthy I could see him beating out Daniels for the starting CB position and Daniels being our nickle back. I think our secondary is going to be surprisingly effective this year. I am actually more concerned with OLB position when we are in the 3-4.

We've got 9 guys with significant experience and/or high pedigree now. We've got so much depth now that Shirdonya Mitchell is actually on the outside looking in.

Bell seems to me as more of a situational player like on obvious passing situations. he blitzes well and is a playmaker. if he is more consistant than it will be interesting to see if he can acutally start. i see a good position battle for the open safety position next to Allen with Tillman/Hill/Cooper battling it out. i havent seen much of Will Allen play so im curious to see if hes a lock for a starting position or if Poole will challenge him. By far tho Poole will be the main one to watch and see where he fits into this.

My thoughts exactly.

Not after being out for 2 yrs.
Daniels knows and has exp in the system. He would have to make Saban shoot sparks out his ars to beat Daniels out.

Daniels is by far our best corner. Even better than Will Allen, for the moment. I don't think anyone unseats Travis Daniels, and I don't even think Saban will bother giving him competition.

Poole was only out 1 year. Not only that but he was at all the meetings and practices. He may not have "played" in the system but he has been learning it.

I have to disagree with you on this one. Giving Daniels competition can only improve him and our secondary.

didnt Saban say he wanted Daniels as our Nickel Back?

I am actually excited about our secondary this year. We might not have the greatest talent in the world with each position, but one thing that many other teams don't have that we do is alot of depth.

With that being said, I think it will be fun watching the TC and preseason battles of who wins and who will go where. But I believe at the end of preseason our secondary will look something like this....

CB- Will Allen/Will Poole
FS- Jason Allen/Yeremiah Bell
SS- Deke Cooper/Travares Tillman
CB- Travis Daniels/Andre Goodman
NB- Renaldo Hill
