Hello,
I was watching the game this past Sunday and I don't know about you but I am sick and tired of watching that quick pass to Bess alone. If the insist on doing that play then do how the Pats did against the Colts with Welker, throw him the pass with two receivers to his left and right so they can block for him.

I have yet to see that play give us more then 1yrd and I see that play at least once in every game I have watched.

So I ask you guys, think of one play that we keep calling that you'd want removed from the playbook and why. Thanks!

I think sometimes the plays called for Pat White are too vanilla.....let Pat throw it once in a while. It just seems at times they bring Pat in at the wrong time and it disrupts what Henne is doing. White should be allowed to roll out and use his arm, but instead they use that college option play with him and it usually goes for no gain.

actually there was one he went for like 7 yards and someone made a shoe string tackle on him to prevent a 70 yard td...

I would take out the screen to our TE. I believe it was a screen, that went to Haynos, who ran for about two yards before the whole Tampa Bay team caught up to him.

that's the one I was talking about above. Terrible play.

In general terms, I'd always eliminate a 3rd down screen pass. That play has horrid success rate even though the media is clueless about that and never mentions it.

Fade passes are also overrated. BTW, they have been declining in number this year. Teams are apparently wising up. My buddy who still works in a stats company gave me the breakdown and I was surprised to hear how much the percentage has dropped.

In our case, I'd get rid of the sideways pass to a flatfooted and hopeless Bess, and also the rollout right by Henne, unless it's a quick decisive dart on a short out pattern. Henne gets in trouble on the slower developing deep roll outs. Those will never be a strength and should be avoided.

Roll out right is another overrated play. Teams used to abuse that strategy on 2 point conversions for years, even though the percentage of success was abysmal. Finally they began to get away from that about 5 years ago and started relying on the give up fade pass.

hah yea, I didn't read the posts before hand. So I agree with you. Could they have picked a slower player to throw it to? You might as well have Jake Long catch a screen pass. I don't understand that play at all.
