Brown was in Pittsburgh on Wednesday, becoming the first projected first-round pick to visit with Steelers officials during the final round of the draft interview process, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.

The Steelers have a history of trading up in the draft, which they would likely have to do this year to acquire Brown, a projected top-10 pick. The Steelers currently own the No. 15 pick. The Texans, who reportedly are leaning toward selecting an offensive tackle with the No. 10 pick, are another possible suitor for Brown. Wisconsin's Joe Thomas, considered the best offensive lineman in the draft, is a projected top-five pick, meaning the Texans would likely be looking at Brown at No. 10. Central Michigan's Joe Staley is also a possibility.

Apparently the Steelers are pretty high on Levi Brown and they are looking to trade up to get him. The Dolphins are in prime position to take Brown, they are also in prime position to send a smoke screen that Brown is our guy. The situation could develop into a perfect trade down scenario. We all know that Mueller is looking to build through the draft and this could be a perfect way to pick up an extra 2nd and possibly a 4th or 5th. Thoughts?

First, the thread title is misleading !!! It should be Pitt looking to Trade UP !!

Second, I like the idea. Although no one here has Levi as projected selection, Mel Kiper still has us selecting Brown. So I don't think you need a big smoke screen. Sounds like Houston is interested in him - so even if we aren't interested in selecting Brown, Pitt would want to trade with us.

I would need to see who was left on the board... personally, I think #9 is overpaying Brown, if our staff felt the same way, and there was no Quinn, Ginn or Peterson around, I say go for the extra picks.

Ginn would be around at 15 in my estimation. There's no reason to see otherwise and he'd be a very nice selection at 15.

I agree that he is better priced at 15, but I was thinking we might overpay him... like P-burg is maybe willing to do for Brown.

I dont mind trading down at all and picking up an extra pick. But i would wait during the draft and not before. Dont want another JJ disaster, where we could have had Moss but traded out before the draft and wound up with Avery.

I wouldn't hesitate on this one come draft day unless somehow Quinn or Landry fall. I'd move down to 15, see if they can add Hall or Revis, then have 3 2nd round picks. I'm 100% for this trade if Quinn and Landry are off the board.

I would do the deal and stockpile picks. :)

wait and see where quinn falls to...if we can get him then trade down with the steelers and ginn would be our first rounder adn then draft OL and Stanton in the second...do it

I would love to move down with Pitt. The problem is I doubt they offer us their 2nd round pick though. According to the points chart that would be way to much. Going strickly by the points chart (obviously it wouldn't have to be exact if both teams wanted to get something done) they would have to give us 300 points to move up. Their 2nd round pick is worth 440 points. They may offer us their 3rd (205 points) and a later pick. I could see us trading down for their 3rd and 5th. That would give us 1-1st, 2-2nds, 2-3rds and give us the 5th back we gave up in the Harrington trade. That would only be 234 points, lower than the 300 points we could demand but if we really wanted the picks than we may give on that a little. Technically if they wanted to move up bad enough we could get their 3rd, 4th and 5th (290 points) which would be very close to the 300 points and they have an extra pick in both the 4th and 5th rounds anyway. But I find it hard to believe that they use 3 picks to get Levi Brown. I think a 3rd and 4th or 3rd and 5th is probably more realistic. Either way I would be all for it.
