I will be going down to Miami for my first home game (I have seen them on the road in at least 6 cities) and I am looking for a good hotel reservation and recommendations on places to enjoy a meal. My wife is headed down with me and she is game for almost everything so let me know of any local mom and pop places you would recommend. We are making it into a 4-day weekend so we are open for some adventure prior to enjoying the game.

There aren't any good hotels that I would recommend you take the wife too within walking distance of the stadium. There's a courtyard Marriott in Miami lakes which is about a 10 minute drive to the stadium. There are several good restaurants in the Miami Lakes area as well although I don't know of any smaller mom and pop places by name. I'm sure some other fans here can help you out.

Would not recommend staying anywhere close to Dump Life.

Take a drive into Hialeah and grab some Cuban food at Sarussi.

Brush up on your Spanglish.

There is a hotel just north of the stadium on University Dr. It is literally a mile and called El Palacio. Depends on if you want fast food, Pollo Tropical or La Granja are decent fast food Spanish. There is a Hooters on that same Univ Dr just north of the stadium in Pembroke Pines.

They changed the name of the el palacio to stadium hotel or something like that. Either way, I wouldn't recommend taking the wife there. If it were you and a bunch of dudes... sure. But women can be a bit finicky at times (at least mine can be)

My recommendation is to stay on the beach in Ft Lauderdale, Bahia Mar Beachside is affordable. I don't think there is anything good near stadium. Ft Laud Bch is abt 30 min from stadium, it will prbly take another 30 to park on gameday.
If you decide to stay in Ft Laud Bch, I recommend Greek Islands Taverna on Ocean and Oakland, Jalisco on Federal is a good, literally hole in a wall Mexican place, Bimini Boatyard is a traditional key- west style marina hangout with decent food. Those are some.

I've stayed in Hollywood beach before when going to sun life for a game. Good places to eat and not a far can ride to the stadium

There are a few hotels (Hilton Garden Inn and Residence Inn) in Pembroke Pines near I-75 that are decent. They are about 15 mins West of SunLife. I wouldn't stay or eat anywhere near the stadium.

Don't do it

Make sure you rent a car . . . 4 days in Florida are much more enjoyable if you have a car to get around. Public transportation is getting better but still, rent a car.

2nd, consider flying into and staying in Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood. Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is a great option for staying . . . it is a pricier option, but you have everything onsite from casino, nightclubs, restaurants and shopping. Great pool area and nice rooms. Great thing about this location is it's literally a 15 minute drive up down the Turnpike to SunLife stadium . . . hell you could nix the car rental and just stay here all weekend and just grab a cab down to the stadium and grab one back to the hotel. Very close to the airport . . . .that would be my choice, of course it depends on your budget . . . but you'll have a blast if you stay here.
