Plaxico Burress

Signing a turd-knocker(s) on a team is destructive.

Signing a turd-knocker on a team like Miami that is rebuilding & not going anywhere anyway ... is just silly & crazy. The team already is ignored ... why make it hated???

Gee, that's funny, I thought that trying to win games still counted for something.

Not that way!! Ross is not so popular ... signing those players & having problems ... he'll get drug through the mud ... along with Ireland.

I don't see it happening ... do you?? Not out to argue with you ... what do you think Ross will do with his team?

There's usually merit to most pints of view- was Eric Steinbach a good signing or is it devoting a roster spot to an older guy with a bad back? Personally I like the move quite a bit.

Burress- seems healthy, in shape and ready to go with a good attitude. I would have brought him and/or Braylon Edwards in. If Burress looks really good sign him. If he acts up- dump him. It's still WAY early in training camp, the pre season isn't even here yet. I like the larger receivers we have fighting for roster spots, an I'm pleasantly suprised to hear that bess looks quicker and is playing well. But- how many TDs do he and Hartline have combined over the last 4 years? How are they in the red zone? Do they likely keep opposing defensive coordinators up all night? No. They are vanilla, so-so, average. Burress has been a weapon over the course of his career, especially in the red zone. I said a while back that Bess and Hartline had better watch out, and Bess was my choice as a surprise cut because he's so damn limited and so not a weapon. I would give Burress a shot, but that's just my opinion.

heres what i fear. cutting wallace, or pruitt, or gates to keep some average guy with more experience like legedu or hartline...and then these guys turn into studs!!

There is something wrong with Plax when even the Jets didnt want him back at the vet minimum. I think he's a punk and a selfish player. Dont want him.

Peter King from SI MMQB:

I think one of the mysteries of this NFL summer is the continuing unemployment of Plaxico Burress. The man's good enough to contribute to an NFL winner, and at the right price ($1.5 million a year plus a heavy incentive for eight touchdowns is what I'd offer). I believe strongly he'd win a game for a playoff contender this year.

as long as he keeps his gun on safety this time then why not?

Why is it "mysterious" that an old, very slow NFL WR with a prison record and a diva personality remains unemployed? :err:

I'm still mulling this one over, and I'm still coming to the conclusion that Hartline and Bess are good, but not good enough. Burress had twice as many touchdowns as Bess and Hartline combined last year. Truth be told I'm more interested in the potential of Chris Hogan than I am of Bess and Hartline. I would indeed sign Burress and give him a long look, and the WRs whom I'm interested in this year are Johnson, Wallace, Pruitt, Fuller, Mathews, Hogan, Gates and Burress if we sign him. I can't think of a team more in need of a red zone threat than us, and that would be Burress. I'm not ready to give up on Gates yet, it was a given that he woud need time to develop.

Why would the team sign Plax when they were ready to dump BMarsh. Team wants character players moving forward.

One only needs to break the plain twice and he has doubled Hartline's career TDs.

I would be very surprised if Philbin brought in Burress with his checkered past.
