Over the last two games Miami has taken 100% of their snaps from behind.

Degree of Trailing Breakdown:

Down 7 - 28%
Down 8 - 5%
Down 10 - 32%
Down 11 - 8%
Down 14 - 4%
Down 17 - 15%
Down 24 - 8%

Miami has spent much of there time in unfavorable down and distance situations.
Unfavorable (1st and 11+ / 2nd and 6+ / 3rd and 5+) = 61 Plays
On those plays we have:
1. Thrown 45 times
2. Ran it 16 times

Favorable (1st and 1-10 / 2nd and 1 - 6 / 3rd and 1 - 4 ) = 56 Plays
On the favorable plays we have:
1. Thrown 24 times
2. Ran 32 times

It should be noted that many of the favorable and unfavorable plays have occured in the 4th quarter when Miami was down by between 11 and 24 points. 75 % of that time by 17 or more.

Also, there is a series that has recieved criticism from many on this board:
It was the 4th quarter. Miami was down 14 points. There was 13:18 left on the clock. On first and 10 Ronnie runs for 9 yards. One second and one we have an incomplete pass to Chris Chambers. On third and one we have another incompletion to Chris Chambers. On fourth and one we punt with 12:29 left on the clock.

Nice breakdown.....

It clearly shows that down and distance has dictated our pass vs. run play calling and more importantly shows that in favorable distances we run more than pass.

I would be interested to know that how often the down and distance while also trailing has dictated correctly the need to pass instead of run. But trailing by 10 pts for 1/3 of your plays usually doesnt say run, run, run.

that's an interesting breakdown. makes the pass-run imbalance look a little more understandable.
