With a line that is suspect with blocking you play call around that until it gets fixed.
This might make some people upset around here who are in love with the deep ball, but it aint happenin with 2.5 seconds max protection.
We need to use screens, which take advantage of over jealous defenses. These screens can go to WRs and Ronnie Brown.
Quick outs, Hot Routes, Quick Slants
- all of these passes will help Daunte get some timing.
- three step drop, ball comes out
* If a team blitzes or just applies some pressure with more than the four down lineman and you connect on a quick slant, or you set up a good screen you will have big pass plays. The difference is the ball doesn't fly 50 yards.
* I also think these passes will make him make a decision (one or two reads max) and get rid of the ball if it isn't there. He was holding onto that ball way to long against Buffalo as the routes were taking way to long to develop.
I am in no way saying that these are the only types of passes we should use, but to think that dropping back and having our receivers run deep is going to work is crazy. Unless our receivers run the 40 in 2.8 Daunte is going to get creamed.
Think about it fellas we gave up 7 sacks against Buffalo. Imagine playing Chicago and Jacksonville.
