This really isnt an issue with the Dolphins right now, but how do you guys feel about players making guarentees about winning certain games, or making playoffs. Broadway Joe is famous for doing just this.

I want to see a phin GUARENTEE playoffs next year to get everyone pumped a little bit. Let everyone in the league know this team means business. Someone like McMike should speak up. Man I would love it if he did that. Thoughts?
 
Shoot they dont need to do that im pumped up before every season.
 
I don't think that's Saban's style... and I don't think any player would give any guarantees knowing the coach would be displeased.
 
all you guys give valid points, but i just think it pushes every player at least a little bit more. and yes i am AMPED for every season as well

I don't like it when players' start shooting off at the mouth and making guarantees. Especially Dolphins players (who have very seldon done it). It put Namath in the HOF. It damn sure wasn't his great career numbers. :D
 
It a player wants to shoot off his mouth and make gurantees so be it, he better be able to back it up with his play.

I wont guarantee you that i will stop posting bad jokes but i will guarantee that i will be one of the greatest dolphin fans in the usa. dont be jelous there is room at the top for a few highly lovable dolphin fans.:cool:

It doesnt take balls to make such a boast or guarantee (usually just lack of common sense to know you shouldnt make such statments) regarding a sports victory!

Its meaningless and pointless, as the boaster never has to suffer consequences if the guarantee fails!

Guarantees are sort of stupid. Not only do you look like a goat when you're wrong, but I can't stand how everybody seems to be amazed when someone makes a guarantee and their team wins. Gee, they only had a 50-50 shot of being correct, let's not call them Nostradamus just yet. At least Namath's guarantee was significant because his team was considered part of the "lowly AFL" and he had the gall to say they would WIN (and did).

Now what would be entertaining is watching players making guarantees after the game has already been played.
