Dolphins coach Joe Philbin isn’t ready to name a starting quarterback for Friday’s preseason game against Carolina. The buzz seems to be pointing in rookie Ryan Tannehill’s direction, but even if he doesn’t start the game, Philbin expects to see Tannehill get plenty of starters-on-starters action in the preseason after he has had three solid weeks of training camp.
“He’s going to at some point in the preseason, there’s no question about that,” Philbin said. “Whether it’s against Carolina or not remains to be seen, but he will get some reps with the ones against the one defense.”
Philbin said he and the coaches will meet tonight to map out the playing time for everybody for the Carolina game, and expects the starters to receive 25-30 snaps. In all likelihood, Philbin will inform Tannehill and Matt Moore on Thursday who the starter will be.

While there are plenty of negatives that have been pointed out that having this show around can bring to the team, a positive seems to be that bottom of the roster guys who are fighting for jobs are going to fight that much harder considering they do not want to get embaressed like that on a national stage.

Think about it, during the season a guy who makes the 53 man roster as a 3rd stringer or special teams player isnt going to get a lot of attention, either good or bad. Sometimes they will get blasted if some huge mistake happens to them like that kid who fumbled those kicks for the 9ers in the playoffs(I cant even remember his name). But, in this setting, football is just starting and a lot of people who are huge football fans are anticipating the season starting. A LOT of people watch that show no matter what team they root for. So it puts a spotlight on these guys that they normally will not get.

Nobody wants to get embarrased like that and be remembered as one of the guys who not only took a lashing from a coach or coaches, but didnt make the cut.

Basically, I think having this show around may strengthen our bench. So there is at least one positive from having those cameras around.

Interesting to see how many players are staying after practice to put in extra work to make sure they're not called out on Hard Knocks.

meh... Wallace, Egnew, and Clay may all have been called out BUT they also highlighted that they made plays (or for Egnew a play) during the preseason game.
