Players to extend now!

Alonso, Branch, and Steen are not contracted for 2017. The front office would be smart to start working on three of these players. I want them on the 2017 Dolphins roster!

Alonso is not part of that group. They have him next year.

Steen is an Exclusive Rights FA . . . He is ours if we want him.

Because Alonso missed a season, he will be an RFA at the end of the year, which means Miami can tender him for a first or second and bring him back for pretty cheap after the season.

Would not do anything with either guy until after the season.

Branch would be nice, but I am sure his agent knows the money being thrown around in FA will trump any early offers from Miami.

Thanks for the correction. I did not see any of them listed on overthecap.com within the 2017 tab, so I thought they were all free agents.

Yea, him and Jenkins from the 2013 class.

do we make trying to re-sign jenkins at a priority? i wanted to think hewitt could fill in for him but im not so sure on that...clearly we need everyone we have at the LB spot...

I wouldn't pay Jenkins. He can stay but don't pay him more then an average starter would get

Jenkins is our worst linebacker right now. Can't see him or Misi coming back next year. I don't know what the story is with Butler's contract but he probably comes back if the price is right.

Reshad Jones? He is under contract next year. But they probably should think about extending it now. As for Branch, i wouldn't overpay for him. Branch isnt a guy you wanna overpay for. I'd rather draft a DE early which we need to do either way

Yea I mean not really interested in keeping either of these injury prone LBs on the roster. Misi has a better shot at seeing camp due to him being under contract but I doubt either are back come Week 1 2017.

Butler could definitely stick. He played well yesterday. Keep it up and you will get an extension
