I read somewhere that Miami currently has 48 players under contract for 2008. Does anyone know where to look to find out who they are? I keep seeing conflicting info concerning who is still signed for 2008 or beyond and who is a free agent. Thanks.

how much of that dead money comes off the books and when?

If the player is cut after June 1, the team can stretch their salary cap liability over the next 2 seasons.

Acceleration also occurs when a player is traded or waived and picked up by another team. The new team is not responsible for any of the original signing bonus. The team that waived or traded the player is responsible for the accelerated signing bonus (in the same manner as described above).

In most cases, if a player retires, the remaining signing bonus that has not been included in salary “accelerates†and is included in that year’s team salary. Thus, the team will take an immediate salary cap hit of the remaining signing bonus.

Is there a more up to date version of this, including 2008 numbers?

Who signed renaldo hill to that contract?

and Shelton!?! wow... way too much

Our safties are interesting...the active ones range from $.25-$.73
a lot of the players are low in the contract though.. I think this is a good sign... not too much heavy baggage...shelton, green, MB and hill = gone!

We are looking at about $25,000,000 before releasing Trent Green, Marty Booker, LJ Shelton, and Renaldo Hill. That frees up an additional $10,000,000 so we are in pretty good cap shape for once.

after yesterdays report it looks like there is a good chance green is still here. Hill is a pretty solid safety too

With us being 25 million under the cap, moving the salaries of booker, taylor, and zach opens up another 21 million, that goes a long way in cleaning house

Shelton was a former #1 pick who was signed to be a starting LT, after being a starting LT before he got here. Now, you are seeing interior offensive linemen getting $6 and $7M deals. Shelton has been a solid player for us. He was doing fine at LT in 2006. Injuries decimated the RG position, and Damion McIntosh was struggling there. So, D-Mac got moved to LT, where he was comfortable, and Shelton moved to RG and did a really good job. This year, at RT, he also had a good year. All the pass rush you saw coming from his side wasn't his fault. It was usually from David Martin, who kept fanning on his blocks.

To put Shelton's deal in perspective, Damion McIntosh got a 6 year, $18M deal from KC last year. Shelton is pretty much paid fair market value for a decent veteran tackle. Personally, I think we will draft a LT in round 2, move Carey to RT, and slide Shelton back to RG.
