I saw a lot in this "dressed rehearsal" game against Tampa that I have not ever seen from the Dolphins. If this is just a touch of game planning, do you think that Saban could possibly have been playing "possum" in the first few games? I know that the preseason is supposed to be a time to determine your roster and get some live practice but I think Saban is hiding a lot more than meets the eye. Is it possible that a lot of starting positions have been known for some time (O line, QB, etc.) and he just isn't showing anyone $hit until he absolutely has to? I may just be delerious and hoping to magically creat chicken salad out of chicken $hit but I wouldn't put it past him.

of course he's known a lot of the starting positions. most head coaches do by this time.

There is no doubt that he is concealing a lot as far as schemes and game plans. I don't know about personnel. It's an interesting thought though.

My thought is that maybe the people who have been starting in these preseason games are not going to be starting against the Broncos. The ultimate Possom...no one sees the starting lineup until the first game. People will have enough trouble game planning against him but this would REALLY screw some people up.

Its possible the way that Saban is. We have schemed much yet on D, imagine when we do, whew. Anyway I see your point and I really wouldent be too surprised if you were right.

I just hope he makes the Jets look STUPID in the 2nd game. Man I hate those guys!

That there may just be wishful thinking.
But I do believe I'm an optimist so give me a "HELL YES!"

i was starting to think that... mater of fact i was going to make a thread on this but u beat me to it.

I think when you're a new coach implementing new offensive and defensive systems, you have to spend the bulk of training camp installing those. Game planning was appropriate last week so the guys can get a feel for how regular-season game weeks are going to be handled. I would not expect to see any game planning against Atlanta, as it will be primarily to evaluate the last few positions on the roster and you don't waste critical wrinkles on backups.

I definitely think Saban was playing major possum! It really goes to show you that preseason means squat. I am not ready to purchase superbowl tickets yet but the Fins are a hell of a lot better than I thought they would be. What a difference a real coach can make!
