For the last three seasons we've seemed to reduce our offense to training wheels when our offensive line was beleaguered, which seemed like all the time. Our offense would run an inordinate amount of bubble screens and even the non-bubble screens were some kind of quick hitter. Sometimes that's the sound strategy, especially when Tannehill and Landry seemed to excel at turning the bubble screens into good gains, but it can back you into a corner when the defense doesn't have to play honest and can start taking that away, plus game situation might dictate more downfield passing that you haven't gotten your team ready for. Today we played a completely different brand of football without three starters, not shying away from downfield shots and getting most of our offensive production through passes traveling a good distance through the air. I can't remember a bubble screen run at all today, with a slip screen to Damien on third down being our only screen attempt. It's nice to see the offensive staff find ways to attack the entire field through play calling and RT also having the skill, confidence, and poise to find a way to get the ball down the field even without top pass protection. I think the story of this game, aside from just winning with three backups at OL, is another step from our QB in managing to deliver a playmaking performance without the help of a running game and great protection.
