A lot are upset about not starting younger players to see what they can do. Yes we're out of the playoffs, so it would be a good time to look at players you've invested in to determine FA and Draft needs.

However, you don't do that to veterans. You still have to put your best team on the field. JT and ZT play to win every week, let's respect that.

On who Saban starts. He has to start the players he thins gives him the best chance to win. JH may not be be very popular right now, but he has a 5-2 record in the last seven games, and proven he can win when the team shows up. The buffalo game was a bad game plan and poorly executed - JH admitted as much. CC needs to get on the same page as JH and live up to his billing as the #1 WR. Because if DC doesn't win the job in TC that's his QB.

However, if we're leading big or getting blown out we can still look at our backups in the 4th qtr. Saban is not beyond looking at players when the risk is valid.

So let's support our team and let the off season happen. We all know we need better QB and OL play, How do we improve them - well that's the million $ question. Is it more time/practice, DC getting healthy, getting new players for the OL or promoting young ones on staff already?

Saban also needs to look at the coaching staff, I think we need a new WR coach. If he's going to keep Mularkey as the OC, he needs to get the type of players he needs.

Yea but...........We really need to see what Lemon can do along with Abili(SP) the tackle. Get Hagan in on more plays so he can figure out how to catch a ball. But you are right not wholesale changes, but a few of these guys we need to know how they do in games.

...and if we play Lemon, Alabi, Hagan and others instead of the veterans and they show they are not ready. We lose a game to the (gasp) Jets and everyone will be calling for Saban's head again. There will be so much unrational posting that it would be mind boggling.

BECAUSE FINHEAVEN DECIDES WETHER A COACH GETS FIRED AMIRITE.

i disagree about starting players because there young. you play to win the game, you start your best players

I think starting the younger players : Lemon, Alabi, etc... is just what the veterans need to start a fire under them....the veterans were given their chances and failed to produce. The way I see it, the last 2 games of this season should be considered part of the 2007 preseason games, games which you use to evaluate your younger players.

We want/need to see Alabi, Vickerson, Evans, Hagan, Lemon, etc, in real game situations. If these guys all suck and are basically roster fodder, then our future prospects are more limited.

Remember when people ripped Wanny for not starting Sage against the Jets in 2003, just so he could win 10 games (even though he was out of the playoffs)?

I don't give a rats butt about what the veteran's might think about playing the young guys more. The veterans's in question are either 1) not getting it done anyway, 2) will dump us for more $$ in FA if they can, or 3) understand the nature of the game and deal with it.

So what you are saying is...we need to play the young guys and winning be damned because we are not going to the playoffs anyway? I don't know about you but I HATE losing. We need to play the players that will give us the best chance at winning...especally against the Jets.

Okay
seriously. Starting the young players against a hated rival won't send a good message to the vets on this team especailly when you have to ask guys like Zach and JT to restructure in the offseason.

I agree we NEED to beat the Jets, it will feel a whole lot better, AFTER we win that game let the young guys have the Indy game......
