I know a lot of people think Saban is waiting to play the other QBs IF we are mathmatically eliminated from the postseason. But, I wonder if Saban would also get some of the younger guys some more playing time to evaluate their progress. I would hope that JT would sit down at least for a couple of games to rest his foot and give Roth some more snaps. I also think Manny Wright and Alabi could find their way into the rotation.

Are you suggesting we give up the season? Because I think that's a horrible idea. Next Sunday might be the most important game so far this season, and "sitting JT down" sounds stupid if you're looking to win games.

:yeahthat:

This season is not over yet... We are not 1-7, we do have a chance to take the division... We have to play with a "winning" mindset... Not the mindset of let's get to next year already... Lots of football left!

I think that could happen in the next few weeks, especially if Miami falls to 3-6 after Sunday. This season really is about finding out who can play and getting some young guys some playing time. I, for one, never expected a playoff run this year. I agree, I'd like to see Wright, Alabi and even Lemon get some time. That would give Saban a clearer picture heading into the offseason.

That really depends on just how far out of the race we are...If Gus has three more poor games, and we are still a game out of first (based mainly on the poor play of our divisional rivals as well as our poor play), then perhaps a QB change would be made to 'give us a spark', but I still doubt that Sage or Cleo are anything at all...

I would also like to see Manny get some game reps but the problem has been getting him on the active roster...

If you had to choose to sit one of these three (Wright, Zgonina, Holiday) would you sit one of the others to allow Wright an opportunity?

Only three Fins wins: fluke vs. Denver (and only b/c Miami, not the Dolphins, beat Denver), near-choke vs. Carolina, weak win against an awful NOLA team in Baton Rouge
Fins losses: Jets and their shoulderless QB, Bills after a QB change there (obviously Mularkey thinks "chemistry" is overrated and malarkey), bad loss to TB, embarrassing loss to KC in which only Sage made the score respectable, choke against Atlanta

So, this begs the ultimate quote...

Playoffs? PLAYOFFS? WE'RE JUST TRYING TO WIN A GAME!! ANY GAME!!!!!

34-10 isn't a fluke Chuck. To say otherwise is no better than making excuses for losing. You are just doing the opposite and making excuses for winning (which always seems strange coming from a "fan"). And of course we are trying to win a game! EVERY game!

Also, its funny that WE had the near-choke, but it was us that choked against Atlanta and not them with the near-choke. But whatever it takes to rip your own team. Pot-aye-to, Pot-ah-to...or whatever best expresses what you want. In all reality, we are simply 3-5, and still capable of winning the division. Period.

The SECOND Saban starts benching veterans and starting the young players he will lose ALL the veterans.

No matter what the record is veteran players want to win every game.

I think keeping ALL the veterans flying in formation is more important then seeing which one of our lower round draft picks can play.

First, some of you need to learn how to carefully read a post. I specifically said "IF". I even put it in capital letters to emphasize the word "IF". So if you think I am giving up on the season, then you are misguided.

Now to the point of keeping the veterans happy. I'm not saying that Saban would just start benching veterans. I'm saying that some of the young guys could get some increased reps in the rotation. I'm sure Saban is the type of coach that would go to his leaders on the team and consult with them before making decisions on playing time. Do you think JT is so closeminded that he wouldn't at least think about resting his foot for the last 2 or 3 games of the season to ensure that he is ready for training camp next year? Yes, these guys are warriors, and they never want to quit, but that's where Saban's objectivity as the coach could help the players see that getting the young guys some game experience now, improving depth, will help them accomplish the goal of a Super Bowl next year.

That doesn't appear to be Saban's MO .... if the player SHOWS that he is ready to play in practice, then a decision would have to be made, but every piece written about Wright states that he is not ready yet.

It is 'remotely' possible that JT could go on the the IR ... IF we are more than 3 games out after these next 4 games ... which even then is a VERY remote chance .... otherwise, you would have to drag him off the field.

The only way Lemon gets any time is if both GUS & SAGE get hurt .... just not this year.

Lastly, you can't 'bench' veterans .... you'd have to make them inactive, that is selling out - and that is not Saban.
