i think we can win four more games- at colts and bills, home bills and jets. The other four games seem unlikely to be wins.
As a diehard (often painful) fan, I think I would rather have a high draft pick and hope for next year than an 8-8 season.
I don’t want to lose but don’t want 8-8 next year either.
.

It doesn't really matter what we hope for. The team will go out there and they will try to win. I'm not counting any game as a win or as a loss. Realistic in me tells me we're not going to win 4 more games and we'll finish probably 6-10 just like last year but this team always seems to win a game they're supposed to lose so anything is possible.

8 more games to scream at your TV then another long offseason, sit back and enjoy the games as much possible, and no worries this team will let us all down once again.

I've gone back and forth on this for a while now. I used to want to win no matter what. Then we began to be stuck in mediocrity and I wanted the high draft pick. There was even a time when the team was without a quarterback and had no hope of going anywhere I rooted for losses as early as opening day. I got my wish that year and they won one game. Then genius Parcells chose a tackle over a franchise QB. I reverted back to wanting wins no matter what. A few more below average years beat me up again. So I figured different management was in place and wanted a change so rooted for draft position again. That year they traded up and chose Dion. I am now so indifferent with this team I just try to watch for entertainment value. I was excited for the win against Chicago and as the game began to go south versus Cinci I just laughed. I never get my hopes up anymore preseason. I now could care less how high a pick we have cause I have no faith the FO will make the right decision.

You never hear Patriots, Pittsburgh, Green Bay fans wishing for their team to tank the season for a higher draft pick. Never. The QB's (which, c'mon guys, is what you are really aiming for here) were not top 10 draft picks.

If the Dolphins draft was run by Jimmy Johnson or Belichick I might be more inclined to trade wins for higher draft picks.

The last top 10 draft picks by the Dolphins...Dion Jordan #3 and Ryan Tannehill #8

Miami seems to draft much, much better just outside of top 10...Fitzpatrick #11 and Tunsil #13

I'll keep rooting for wins.

Mt heart wants to win out but my head says lise them all. I just can't root for the Jets no matter what.

It doesn’t really matter. If they win it will be meaningless. If they get the #1 pick they will screw it up. If they win out so will everyone else. Call it bad luck, curse, whatever you want. If it was a stock I’d short it over and over and over and over and over and over...

Well it would be one thing if the debate were tanking vs playoffs, but it’s not. It’s tanking vs 8-8/9-7 and no playoffs per usual. But as already mentioned, it doesn’t matter what anyone on here wants. The team is going to do what the team is going to do.

You nailed it. It's one thing to get rid of top talent for future picks and trade current picks for future picks while still trying to win with what's on the roster. It's another to make a concerted effort to lose games. This seems to me like one of those theoretical discussions allowing people to vent, knowing full well no team tries to lose.

Really doesn't matter either way. I say lose out but then truthfully while the game is on can't restrain myself for rooting for a win...Its just ingrained..

Fact is more essential than the higher draft pick is the needed massive turn over of the organization, starting with Ross only writing checks, New GM, New Head coach, and new coaching staff. Because before this happens it doesn't matter where we draft we will still be enormously dysfunctional....
So if no major changes, we should try to win out, at least that brings a little delusional hope in which every speck is
And if those changes happen with a level of success,,,,, realize it will still take time (realistically a couple years) to become significantly and consistently better than mediocre...JMO
