From 1-15 to a team that is talking playoff, these dolphins have changed pretty rapidly. They have a 200 percent better winning percentage than they did last year. they expect to win when they go onto the field. So, why has this happened so fast?
First of all, the dolphins lost over 6 games last year by 3 points or less. These games came up against the Jets, Texans, Bills, and playoff teams of Washington, Pittsburgh, and The superbowl champ Giants. Not to mention losses to the Eagles, and Raiders in which they could have easily won if they would have had a defense that could stop the run. That right there is 8 games in which we could have won, at least had a chance to win. You cant name a 1-15 team that can accomplish that much competition.
Speaking of the Run defense, look at the difference. Last year miami ran a run defense that included matt roth, rod wright, keith traylor, and Jason Taylor. Keith Traylor was older than bill cosby. Rod Wright is still a dolphins but is inactive every game this year. Now, miami has depth. A team that has 6 players on the d-line that could be every down starters. Paul Solia, Jason Ferguson, Randy Starks, Vonnie Holliday, Philip Merling, and my man Kendall Langford. This run defense is like 6th in league only allowing 88 yards a game rushing. They held L.T. to 35 yards and stopped him on the one yard line. I consider that the hardest thing other than stopping hester on a punt return. This run defense is the major difference to our turn around.
So you see, this is not the same team as last year. They have new faces, and a different swagger. Their offensive line is stout, They have playmakers in the back field that create miss-matches like no other. They have a healthy Ronnie Brown, who i consider a top 5 talent in the league. He has great vision, speed, and he has a smile that is opposite of his playing style. One executive said that if ronnie played for the vikings he would be league mvp. The problem with that is that he plays for miami but, if they make the playoffs I could make an arguement that Ronnie could be in the mvp discussion.
Combined with a run stuffing defense, and run stuffing offense this dolphins team could be a playoff team. Bill Parcells is a genious, he knew what he seen in this team. he plugged in a few missing pieces and now is turning a team around quick. I don't know about you guys but if this team makes it to the playoffs, I wouldnt want to play them. game managing qb, two great running backs, and a run stuffing defense with depth.
WOW!!!!!

stole my line from the other thread.

so ill post it here.
How did he steal a line from you that was said by Parcells?

Er...Mora.:rolleyes2:

if we made the playoffs this season, i would cry with happiness. even if we lost in the first round i would be so satisfied with how far we have come this season. [ im saying that now but if we do make the playoffs, and lost i would prob be rlly pissed off the whole week at least].

That long of a post about why the team is so much better and somehow you fail to mention the biggest difference?? We finally have a real QB. When you run total garbage out there at QB every week it can make your team look really bad.

Get back to me in week 10 or 12, then I will consider the playoffs if we are still playing like we are now.

he's a key component but the difference is our defense. we are great in the trenches. that is what makes us better. along with our turnover differencial. shoot we haven't given up any points in the 4th quarter.
we are playing smart football. i still believe that ronnie and yeremiah are key players. ronnie is the best player on this team, and yeremiah is the best defensive player. we have talent, its about time we use it!

maybe, our division features beatable but good teams...
and we're playing great football.. i mean if we can keep up this energy i dont see why we dont win every other game... we dont play NFC east teams or any AFC South... whihc is very big..
we have to win the division, we can do that by winnong the rest of our divisional games, which again are beatable...

it'd be an amazing story and would lock Sparano up as Coach of the Year

Thats for sure. Pennington really knows how to manage and Offense and hasn't really made mistakes. His one interception came in the dying seconds of a game where holding on to the ball without taking a chance would have just been plain stupid.

The Defense took two weeks to show up, but when they did they made it known to the world after shutting up New England and the League leading in points per game *San Diego*. Smash Mouth playing guys. I'm excited but I don't want to get ahead of myself.

Making it to the playoffs would be so EXCITING for me, but that would mean giving up some valuable draft spots that we might need to further build this team. But then again if they can keep playing like this then maybe we don't need it as much as we thought before the season began.
