From 1-15 to a team that is talking playoff, these dolphins have changed pretty rapidly. They have a 200 percent better winning percentage than they did last year. they expect to win when they go onto the field. So, why has this happened so fast?
First of all, the dolphins lost over 6 games last year by 3 points or less. These games came up against the Jets, Texans, Bills, and playoff teams of Washington, Pittsburgh, and The superbowl champ Giants. Not to mention losses to the Eagles, and Raiders in which they could have easily won if they would have had a defense that could stop the run. That right there is 8 games in which we could have won, at least had a chance to win. You cant name a 1-15 team that can accomplish that much competition.
Speaking of the Run defense, look at the difference. Last year miami ran a run defense that included matt roth, rod wright, keith traylor, and Jason Taylor. Keith Traylor was older than bill cosby. Rod Wright is still a dolphins but is inactive every game this year. Now, miami has depth. A team that has 6 players on the d-line that could be every down starters. Paul Solia, Jason Ferguson, Randy Starks, Vonnie Holliday, Philip Merling, and my man Kendall Langford. This run defense is like 6th in league only allowing 88 yards a game rushing. They held L.T. to 35 yards and stopped him on the one yard line. I consider that the hardest thing other than stopping hester on a punt return. This run defense is the major difference to our turn around.
So you see, this is not the same team as last year. They have new faces, and a different swagger. Their offensive line is stout, They have playmakers in the back field that create miss-matches like no other. They have a healthy Ronnie Brown, who i consider a top 5 talent in the league. He has great vision, speed, and he has a smile that is opposite of his playing style. One executive said that if ronnie played for the vikings he would be league mvp. The problem with that is that he plays for miami but, if they make the playoffs I could make an arguement that Ronnie could be in the mvp discussion.
Combined with a run stuffing defense, and run stuffing offense this dolphins team could be a playoff team. Bill Parcells is a genious, he knew what he seen in this team. he plugged in a few missing pieces and now is turning a team around quick. I don't know about you guys but if this team makes it to the playoffs, I wouldnt want to play them. game managing qb, two great running backs, and a run stuffing defense with depth.
WOW!!!!!
