To paraphrase the great Jim Mora Sr. we ain't got what it takes to make the playoffs.

Playoff teams play well on 3rd downs. Miami is brutal on both sides of the ball.
Can't stay on or get off the field.

We need more corners, safeties, OL, big LB's and a good QB to even think about the playoffs.

I really can't believe that anyone of us really thought we would be going to the playoffs this year.

With better QB play this team would be on pace to make the playoffs, and still could (if Gus is benched). 3rd down efficiency basically boils down to QB play. Look at the losses:

NYJ- Gus completed 46.5% of passes and throws pick at Jet 15. Team converted 4 of 14 3rd downs. Lose by 10.

Buff - Gus throws 3 picks (1 in end zone). Team converts 3-9 3rd downs. Lose by 6.

TB - Gus completed 48% of passes. Fumbles, which is returned for TD. Team converts 3 of 14 3rd downs. Lose by 14.

KC - Gus completes 38%. Team converts 3 of 13 3rd downs. Lose by 10.

ATL - Gus throws pick in red zone to on potential tying drive. Converts 0 of 9 3rd downs. Lose by 7.

The Buffalo, NYJ and Atlanta games were clearly winnable with better (not even great) QB play. That would put us at 6-2. Even the TB and KC games were potentially winnable with better play from Gus.

Some of you guys are unbelievable, last week you were all saying how great we were and that we were going to win the division now you are saying that we are horrible and dont have a chance against anybody. Make up your damn minds are we contenders or pretenders or do you not know because your head is up your *** on gameday!

Hang in there everyone!! Miami needs time to develop chemistry as a team. We are getting very close. OL, running game has drastically improved over the first half of the season.

The second half, I expect the passing game (using play-action) and our secondary to drastically improve. Question is, can we develop the chemistry soon enough to start the winning streak?

Just think, if the Pats lose tonight, we play for a 1st place tie on Sunday. Also, we could develop into a very good team come week 17 against the Pats. You can call me crazy, but I think we could even win that game.

This is a good post. There is a serious problem with the offense. They are not sustaining drives. They are not getting into the end zone once they reach the red zone. Is it play-calling? Is it Frerotte? I'm thinking it is a bit of both. Can you change the offensive coordinator? Yeah, but that is a difficult move. Can you sub a new QB in to see what happens? Yeah, and if it doesn't work you lose. But so what. You are losing anyways.

I loved Ole Jim....Man that guy wore his heart on his sleeve. He was honest and to the point. But also into early retirement. He got one heck of a good coach for a son.

I'm not throwing Miami out of the divison talk just yet. The AFC East can be won with an 8-8 record this season. What is killing the Dolphins are all of the division losses. I said when Saban was hired that an 8-8 season would be a great accomplishment with this roster. For years, too many fans thought that the Dolphins would just have a 9-7 record or better and that we were "one player away" from the Super Bowl. That vanished along with the rest of Wannys smoke screen. Now Saban has to fix the franchise and rebuild the roster. This squad will be LUCKY to get to 8-8. That should make Saban a candidate for coach of the year. As far as the playoffs go........the only chance is if the Dolphins win the division with an 8-8 record. Other then that, no way.

i think we take a chance on sage this weekend, i havethis weird feeling he will be the kind of qb that wins, not one to put up amazing stats but he will be a winner and make everyone around him better and more positive.....just my thoughts, or who knows maybe gus pulls through and turns his season around it would be just in time......

I guess thats just how people react after a win and after a loss. I never thought that we would make the playoffs I predicted 8-8 and this aint the NFC North so 8-8 wont win the disvion.

It is going to take a 9-7 or 10-6 record to win any division in the NFL even the NFC North. My take on next weeks game is that Miami will shove the ball down New Englands throat who is giving up more than 120 yards rushing a game and over 25 plays of 20 yards or more. If we run the ball 45-50 times a game we will win alot more games this season.

I would agree a playoff shot is lunacy IF are division werent so awful. But it is right now, which means we are still in the race for the division.

For some reason, I really dont know why I still think we have a shot at the playoffs, only if we beat New England. I get sucked in all the time believing in this team and for the most part they leave me broken hearted, like on Sunday.

We mathematically have a shot at the title, but as long as Ray Lucas is our QB, we won't make the playoffs.
