I appreciate you'll miss the game but some of us in the UK are pretty passionate too!

We were there watching at 2am when Fulton Walker returned a kick off for a TD in Superbowl 17, only to see Riggins run all over us.
We watched amazed as a young rookie QB lit up the football world as a rookie, only to lose big time to the Montana led 49ers, where all Miami could do was kick Field Goals by a kicker (von Schamann) who was more known for missing key FGs.
My mate has the Chicago game in 85 on VHS, where we stopped the Bears becoming another undefeated team.
I play the clock game regularly on VHS, where the bigger miracle was that we were still in the game after a dominant 2 quarters by the Jets and Bowens fisrt showed his potential ability.
I have the tape of Marino’s comeback game after his Achilles, when he threw the winning TD on 4th down.
I have the first game of Zach’s career when he tackled everything moving, made 2 amazing tackles on a key goal line stand.
I rejoiced when we selected the local boy Yatil Green in 1997 and then almost cried when he blew out his knee in the first couple of days of training camp.
I cut out an article (SI) on a young college wide receiver named Moss who some were saying would be the next great receiver and then went mental when JJ traded out of 19 with Green Bay and Moss dropped to 22. I remember we took a RB Avery who within 2 months had to carry a football with him wherever he went because he would fumble it all the time.
I nearly chucked my computer out of the window when I wanted Brees and Wanny took a short CB called Fletcher, and again went ballistic when he took Eddie (who?) Moore in round 2.
I was happy when we sacked Wanny (still am) but angry when Saban legged it.

If it goes ahead rejoice for us. We'll do you proud if you can't come over and experience our hospitality!

I don't think the issue is even the missing game (except for the locals). What concerns me as a Dolphins fan who is also several hours away is what impact the travel will have on the team. Miami to Heathrow is an 8 hour flight. Sure, it's 9 hours to Seattle. That doesn't really matter because Seattle would be a ROAD game. The league is asking Miami to travel 16 hours round trip for a "home" game. It's not really fair to Miami's 2007 chances. The only reason I'm not more pissed is because I'm pretty sure Miami's 2007 chances are very slim. I'd actually rather get it over with this year if it has to be done.

How does this international thing work? Does every team have to play one game internationally next season?

I have no problem with it if that's the case as long as it's equal footing for all the teams. Sucks that we lose a home game though.

Nope. The Dolphins would be the only team to lose a home game next year.

It sounds like they're doing this for 16 years. Every team will play overseas, but only half will lose a home game. It blows.

Frankly, I'm happy for you. That is a once in a lifetime deal for fans abroad, and must be a great feeling. I hate we'll be missing a home game, but Huizenga has always been about the bigger picture. Think of the new fans the Fins will have across the sea, and the team items we'll sell... we'll be more profitable, create world-wide top-of-mind-awareness of our team, and hopefully will have majority support at Wembley. One day the NFL will undoubtedly have teams in Canada, Mexico, and Europe. The seeds are already being planted. So again, I hate we lose a home game, but I also find it exciting...

I think one or two fans will be upset. But for us Brits and Europeans its an amazing thing to look forward to.

I have to admit ive been REALLY IMPRESSED on how many Finheaveners have said "hope you brits enoy the day" or "this is a good thing" etc etc. I think Miami Dolphins fans in the USA have a right to be really annoyed at the fact they are losing a home game but it seems 90% of Finheaven has been a class act and said they hope we enjoy our day out and rooting a win.

I don't think anybody holds it against Europe (since the NFL says it could still be Germany). The problem is with the NFL's method of execution.

I just don't understand why these games can't be both "away" games for each team. I am a season ticket holder so I would be impacted.

But I'm also thinking about the amount of money that is generated, and earned by the local community when a game is home.

And another thing, this is America's Game per the NFL. Isn't there already an NFL Europe?

I just don't see the benefit to the game of football by having American teams play in Europe.

I'm pretty happy about it, personally. I mean, yeah we "lose" a "home" game in a sense, but it will be good for the sport as a whole and probably good for the Dolphins in the long run. Gotta look at the big picture, people...

Anyway, depending on how things turn out, we may manage to still have "home field advantage" even in the UK. Hopefully whoever we play will be whatever team is absolutely most dis-liked in the UK, so the crowd support will be on our side. :-)

On a related note... anybody here think they'll make a trip over for the game (assuming this actually goes through)?

If you make it a road game for both teams, you're just giving one of the teams some other team's home game. That would be the only way to do it. They'd have to give say the Browns a 7 home game, 9 road game schedule in order to make it work.

I am happy for the UK fans .I know we have a lot of UK fans who love the Dolphins from the impression Dan Marino left there when he played an exhibition game in England.

Some have become so passionate that they have joined our VIP forum.

Ultimately I believe that that is the objective of these international games.Build up a fan base ouside the USA.

Canada,Mexico ,Germany ,the UK seems ripe for this effort.

We also have Finheaven members from Denmark,France,Spain,Italy ,Australia,Japan,Brazil,Chile,Uruguay,Costa Rica and even one from the Ukraine.

IMO its good to internationalize this sport.

Thats a bot harsh mate. I LOVE the NFL. I LOVE american football. But becaause Im not american or live in Miami I shoulsdnt be allowed to support the Fins?

I know where you are coming from but NFL Europe is a "farm" league, for the young players and we dont follow them. Its a bit of fun perhapos but the NFL is the big leagues and we love it! You should be proud that fans around the world love americas game and even more proud non americans chose Miami as there team.

Im not having a go mate, it may seem like that, just stating why this is happening - NFL is a worldwide game, so they are playing it worldwide now buddy.

See...Gotta admit, the FinHeaven family are being cool about this. Just about 10% dont like the Idea, I'm very impressed and proud to be a Fins fan.

Well, since you put it that way, the game is yours.......enjoy!
