to me, this is the most glaring weekness. true GUS is a backup at best. however look at KC's time of poss in the last game (appx 42 minutes). they owned the point of attack as their rb's avg'd >5 yd/carry and ours had a lot less carries.

To me the line is improving, however there is no dominant OL I see on the team. want an OGDEN TYPE badly.

McIntosh/Mckinney have to go. they get know push and get schooled on pass plays.

I would say C- because of the penalties. I was going to say D, but they showed some improvement in the penalty department on Friday.

What's our average yard per rush this year so far and how many sacks have we given up?

Not sure how to grade them, perhaps breaking it up is best:

Discipline F (penalties and breakdowns)

Run Blocking (when we run) C+ (Defenses look surprised we ran rather than being blocked)

Pass Blocking D- (Too much pressure - from everywhere)

Line Coaching D- (Houck was brought in early enough to get a lot his stuff in, change out key personnel, and influence the draft - he hasn't gotten it done). We have the same issues, mostly the same personnel, worse discipline, and no one from the draft.
Overall F

I know Ronnie is 4.8 and Ricky is 0.6 avg. Gus has been sacked 10 times.

I disagree, we may not be the Colts, but we have made a big jump in protection and run blocking over last year. I think a qiuick thinking fast responding QB would make a world of difference to this team and this is not a knock on Gus, he is what he is and has always been, a servicable QB thats all. He's not a starter. I don't blame him for this teams sturggles but he has made things tougher from time to time. He has also played very well, but Saban knew the %'s were against Gus being successful weak in and week out.
This team is where it should be given the circumstances, If this were Sabans fifth year we would reason for the harshness we seem to express at such a new coaching staff.

Think about this ok, the teams mentality is what I love most. Yes they have lost three in a row, but what we as fans don't see is the effect Saban and the other coaches are teaching after the loses. No more, well thats OK guys, there's always next week (Wanny). No, Saban helps them learn and forget learn your mistakes and forget the loss. I know Sabans style, and I know this is more important then the talent on the team. The teams mentality will win more games then strength, speed or luck.

It's eaiser to notice when the team is losing, fans tend to look for problems harder when the team loses, and are far more blind when they win. I don't think anyone here thinks the line is solid but at the same time they have a much better scheme now then they did last year, it shows IMO.

McIntosh/Mckinney have to go. they get know push and get schooled on pass plays.

I think Seth has had enough time to prove his worth and I really don't think he among a couple others are full time starters. I think we will have a couple of improvements next year on the O-line.

While they've blocked reasonably better than last year. The penalties are just an absolute joke and a disgrace....I think Houck will find a way however to fix them. Anyway the grade right now is a D, strikingly similar to many of my report cards back in the day :)

I would give them a C+ for pass blocking and a C- for run blocking.

I would give them a D for disipline.

I would give them a B for improvement over last year.

F.

It's that simple. This line doesn't do anything well. Nothing. There isn't a ****ing one of them worth saving for next year; even Hadnot, who I had high hopes for, has faliled around like a fish on the deck of a boat this season, with better coaching and a better scheme.

I think the Bills game we didn't give up a sack until the final drive where the Oline gave up back to back sacks. The las few games the sacks have been more frequent and it's no coincidence Gus's performances have gone down.

i think the oline has done pretty well considering its not much different than last year... yes gus gets some pressure on him but our run blocking has been pretty good, kinda inconsistant, but much improved from last year... tihs is all aside from the penalties though...

seth has improved dramatically, hes playing well this year, hadnot seems to have regressed, either that or everyone around him is playing better and hes being the same guy as last year... james is doing much better than last year... but even with hadnot our entire interior line has improved greatly...

our tackles have been sporatic, but you people expect never to see pressure on a QB... no offensive line, NONE will go a whole game without letting some pressure in or some sacks allowed... yes we could have better tackle play, but these guys are young, carey is in his first year starting (kinda), hes not gonna be a probowl player right off the bat... we could draft all the first round tackles you want, they are not going to play perfect right off the bat... once you realize taht you'll sleep better at night

dont get me wrong im not saying they are playing great, but you guys are acting like the line is the same as last years and its not, its MUCH MUCH improved...

actually I think it is a coincidence since his performance has gone down when he had plenty of time to throw the ball.
