I hope we do hire Brian....This would be great for our organization and will be taking away from the Jets organization....I have been hoping for an offensive minded HC for awhile now....Some of the posts over on one of the Jets sites are hilarious....Half of them are crying about us stealing their guy and the other half are in denial....It is priceless....

He makes the most sense. You just locked up a DC with Capers who has been HC so he can learn from him. He is young and gives you a coach for long time. He does not have to worry about find a DC WH just gave him one of the best in the business. Now just find a good OC and set back have Randy pick your players that work for what you want to run.

I agree. They just signed capers to the long term deal so why would they go and hire a defensive minded coach, it would not makes sense to me. We need help on the offensive side of the ball for a change.

Ok all you Hire Schotty fans, other then having a dad that has a good record as a coach, tell me your reasons behind wanting him, convince me. Thsi is what I know as fact.

Schottenheimer, 1 year as an offensive coordinator on a team that did nothing to really impress me offensively. 18th in scoring offense, 20th in rushing (2 spots ahead of Miami, but the fins averaged more yard per carry), 17th in passing (worse then Miami). Yes the Jets made the playoffs but it seems more to Mangini getting them to overachieve and a last place schedule then a great offensive attack.

As far as I have heard Schottenheimer has not interviewed for any of the other openings, so why rush if the Chargers win this week and eliminate Cameron ?

Ok all you Schotty fans, convince me why. Over then having a father that has had a lot of success as an NFL coach why him ? This is what I know about him for sure.

You are basing way too much on stats. Football is about emotion, preparation, and passion. I think a young guy like Tomlin or Schottenheimer gives us an injection of enthusiasm and attitude.

If I was going up against Parcells or Belichick in a big game would I worry? yeah, probably. But I think these guys give us an attitude of not losing to sorry *** teams. They'll take some chances.

Look at Sean Payton. Not the most distinguished coordinator if you just went by stats...but his attitude and his ability to get the players to buy into his vision really made a difference to his team.

The Fins need to get someone who can take the time to rebuild this team and do it the right way. I think BS and MT are both guys who could undertake that mission.

He took that offense into the playoffs, with what talent. Santana Moss and.....yep that's it.

I think it's a bit more accurate to say half of us are weeping and the other half realize that Schottenheimer was just a piece of the puzzle last year.

All of us know he's gone by the end of next year at the latest anyway so keeping him around for 2007 is the best we can hope for, barring a collapse of the Jet's O in which case he'd still be around but we'd be looking at him funny.

I do think he's a bit of a stretch as a head coach at this point, however youth must be served in the new NFL and he's going to either get your job or Philly's after 2007 when Andy Reid finally moves on.

Okay, I have two problems -- well, questions -- about "Schotty". 1) What the heck has he done? Yes, it's nice to steal a division opponent's coach, but were the Jets tearing it up this year on offense? 2) Will he call plays? An "offensive-minded" head coach means nothing if you have an idiot calling offensive plays.

I'm not against hiring this guy, but I'm nowhere near as giddy as you about the prospect.

lol, if you think getting brian scott will stop the phins from being miserable and in last place in the afc east next year then you are the one who is in denial. the jets and the pats will be battling it out next year for the afc east title.....and the phins will be battling for the number one pick...........you are the one who should be crying.
