Please support the site and Join VIP or Donate

I am not part of the staff, I am a retired Admin. I am just a member like everyone else. Just trying to ensure nothing happens to the site and seek those that can help support it with a VIP membership, or a donation. Thanks and have a great weekend.

Are you guys still doing T Shirts for VIP? I never got one either and would love to rock a FinHeaven Tee.
Check with Fin-atic, I know his plate is pretty

full away from finheaven.

Thanks Bro.

All:

I want to stress that the site truly needs every dime it can get. When you see the 2000 plus members that visit each day, please realize that there are another 15-18 THOUSAND more that visit that are not registered members who just add to the burden of bandwidth and server space. This all costs way more than the ads bring in. So you CAN help by donating or even better becoming a VIP.

Those who are asking about TShirts, that offer was from the media company that was involved with us for a couple of years. The price was higher than it is now, and they were offering a TShirt. They are no longer involved, but if you did not receive a shirt and paid for VIP in the past, shoot me a PM with an address and I will see if I can get one from them. I will also need your size. I make no promises on this, I will just try and see what I can do.

But once again support the site because its the right thing to do.

I didn't get a t-shirt, but I'm not worried about it. There is a lot of good information on this forum so when I can I will donate and renew my VIP, t-shirt or no t-shirt.

No thanks! I was thinking about it and decided against it. I was warned for a personal attack. I called someone a parrot. I mean c'mon. I don't care if it just a warning. I responded and basically got laughed at by the mod who gave me the warning. I know I'm only one person and it won't do much if I don't donate or pay for a V.I.P., but I just wanted to voice my opinion on the matter.

So thanks but no thanks.

P.S. for the record, I have been warned before but it was deserved. To call someone a parrot and get warned, to me that's just power tripping. Again, it's the principle of the matter. This site is getting to be a little too anal with their TOS.

I was a VIP for my first two years on finheaven, but I only donated this year as things are a little tight cash wise. I will try to become a VIP again when things are a little better on the money front. Keep up the good work fin-atic and a the rest of the staff. Your efforts are appreciated.
:thanks:

I had the same situation as you with a warning
Some one said a coach sucked and my reply was
So do BLIND homers posting the same crap over and over and over
I never said the quoted poster was a blind homer

It's amazing when you make the jump that I called him a blind homer when it was NEVER STATED that the poster was that.I was making a GENERAL statement regarding people posting the same thing over and over.

No where did the poster say a reporter sucked over and over
This statement was not ment for him.

If my statement said,"you are a blind homer" then I would agree with you
but that is not how my post was written nor was it meant to be addressed at
one individual and I have no clue how you decided this.

I do not even deserve a warning...more like an apology

mods reply
The board right now is totally unsettled because of the state the fins are in and SOME COULD TAKE that post as an assertion of ignorance toward the poster.

Now we get warnings because some COULD take things the wrong way

I appreciate the work involved to keep this place straight and even though it's not a huge deal as a Mod one should not make charges as "one COULD take that post as an assertion of ignorance toward the poster. The important word here is "COULD"

You could have stolen that candy bar so we have to arrest you
You could have gone through that red light so you need a warning
You could have called in sick to work so we have to give you a warning

I hope you can understand my point...If the poster took it as a dig on him that's his
ego/problem and I should not have received a warning for "could"

Again thanks for keeping things under control the past few weeks

Ron

Any time you guys have a problem with a MOD...either contact another MOD or an admin...They will look into for you...If there is a power trip going on they will sort it out.

You contact an admin or Fin-atic and they will look into it. This is not the proper way to discuss an issue you have with the staff. The best way is in a pm. The staff here keeps every matter private like it should be. If this site were to disappear then you wouldn't have to worry about any of the mods.

Again Ron the best thing to do is contact an admin or Fin-atic to talk about in a pm, not here in the open. We are all are human and we can make mistakes. Thanks, John

No matter the issues relating to "no Tshirts," inconsistent/subjective mod enforcements, or whatever the case, the fact remains that if someone regularly visits this site, and especially if they have for some time, they are consuming the bandwidth which, if no one steps up to help underwrite, the deficit cost comes directly out of Matt's own pocket.

You can be upset about things, likely justifiably so, but the bottom-line is if despite that you remain active, enjoying the information and interaction, the right thing to do is help keep FH afloat. You really don't need Sherlock Holmes-like detecting skills, especially if you've been a member for some time to deduce that after years of more or less passive appeals for support, since the intensity of these requests have now been ratcheted up, the site is hurting financially and could well go belly-up. Does anyone want that?

Now, in this economy, if finances are too stretched to spring for a VIP, well, that's understandable; however, IMO even a token $5 donation both helps and demonstrates that you appreciate the privilege of regularly contributing here.

Thanks Cali! I appreciate it and understand your point. I will let it drop and have had a change of heart. I will consider the VIP membership. Just wanted to state why I went sour on the whole membership/donation option. I understand the need for a TOS, but it should be used for a blatant attack. Not for something as mundane as calling someone a parrot because they repeat themselves. In my opinion, it's uncalled for. Again thanks for taking the time and for the advice. Next time, I will go through the proper channels.

You definitely make a good point Vaark. Thanks!
