Lamar Miller vs. Miami running back depth chart -- The Dolphins traded up in the fourth round to take the University of Miami rusher with the second pick of the draft's third day, and they're determined to find ways to use his 4.4 speed in as many ways as possible. To start off, he'll likely return kickoffs and be on the field in Miami's third-down package, perhaps even split wide in a receiving formation. Anything to get him the ball in the open field and let his wheels work.

The Dolphins need more explosion on offense, because while Reggie Bush was a lead-back revelation of sorts in his first season in Miami, 2011 second-round pick Daniel Thomas had an uneven rookie season, running for fewer than 600 yards and no rushing touchdowns. He didn't run with the power the Dolphins wanted from him, and at times he looked overwhelmed. Miller's versatility has Miami intrigued. If he can prove that a left shoulder injury requiring offseason surgery is completely healed, the Dolphins and new head coach Joe Philbin may have a new toy to play with on offense.

how the recieving core works itself out isa big question for me. I would love to see these hidden gems the new coaching staff was talking bout.

Daniel Thomas showed me zero, zip, nada last year. I really hope that we can blame that on injuries, but to be perfectly honest, i question whether or not he'll have any type of an impact at this level. I've never seen a player with less of an instinct for the end zone inside the 5.

My guess is, Miller & Bush are used in similar roles with Miller taking on ST duties.

I coulda swore i read somewhere that D-Thomas put on some muscle over the offseason. Hopefully he'll be able to stay healthy andd show the promise Ireland saw in him this year.

I think Miller is gonna be Reggie Bush lite for us. I'd like to see Reggie back after this year but not at a premiem price. which makes Miller and Thomas' success that much more important for the fins.

The only rookie runningback that was better than Thpmas was Demarco Murray. Remember last years rookies had no ota's or summer camps. Plus he had the struggle with his hamstring.

So you want a Miller lite?

not the other way around

wow, all this beer talk is making me thirsty.

Daniel Thomas showed me zero, zip, nada last year.

In his 1st two games, he was a monster.

Then he got injured, and for the rest of the season, he was mostly a slug.

I'm still hopeful that he can be a good RB.

oline, oline, oline , qb needs to know he wont get hit in the mouth everytime he needs to go to his second and third receivers
.

We need better receivers. These guys are transitioning to a new type of offense so I hope they fit in. I think they can. The o-line is critical to the success but the quick passing should help.

It will be an intriguing year around the entire NFL for all teams. Its almost like having OTA's for 2 whole draft classes. There are going to be many unheard rookies from last year making it into the spot light

lol at the daniel thomas power thing. Thats exactly what ck and slimm were saying about him, that he runs too upright, and doesn't punish the other guys like a big guy should. in fact I remember watching the highlight films last year and thinking damn... if he just coulda broke that tackle... or that tackle... or... wait... this is a power running back? damn.
