Denver Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer was issued a summons for an alleged road-rage incident in April, Englewood police said Tuesday.

Investigator John Hoehler said Plummer was issued the misdemeanor summons Friday, after being contacted at his home in Cherry Hills Village.

The summons stems from a minor crash on April 20 in this suburb south of Denver.

A message left for Plummer through the Broncos was not immediately returned Tuesday night.

A man told authorities he was involved in a road-rage incident with the driver of a Honda. When the two cars stopped at a red light, the Honda's driver got out and kicked the front of the man's vehicle.

The driver then got back into his vehicle, put it in reverse and hit the front of the man's car, Hoehler said. A witness copied the license plate number of the gray Honda, which was listed to Plummer.

When contacted by police, Plummer said he was involved in a rear-end crash, not road rage.

"He went out and looked and didn't see any damage so he didn't report it," Hoehler said.

I thought the same thing, not that he's a loser, but WHY he drove a Honda. Here is a multi-millionaire driving a "grey Honda". C'mon, it's not like he can't afford the gas and needs a super-efficient Japanese car :rolleyes2

I'd have an S2000(among many other cars) if I was loaded.

Mike Shanahan says he believes Jake Plummer's version of his road rage dispute. But the Denver coach says his quarterback must learn to walk away when he finds himself getting angry.

Police issued Plummer a summons last month after he allegedly kicked the headlight of a pickup and then backing his SUV into the other vehicle.
Plummer acknowledged cutting off truck, driven by 47-year-old Douglas Stone of Denver, but said he waved and apologized. Plummer said he got out of his SUV only after Stone blared his horn and then tapped the bumper of Plummer's truck.

Plummer, who said he was in a hurry because he was on his way to give a check to charity, denied cursing at Stone, kicking his bumper or backing into him.

``There's two different stories,'' Shanahan said. ``So we are going to have to let the process take care of it.''

But Shanahan said that Plummer's high profile makes him a target in any dispute.

``It's anybody in this organization, including myself,'' the coach said Thursday. ``But we also know that the quarterback, the head coach and the owner are usually the guys that people are keeping their eyes on the most.

And that's just the nature of the job.

``And regardless of what city you are in, especially in Denver, when you're considered a leader, you know that you're going to be scrutinized very closely.''
Shanahan said he would be upset if someone honked and bumped his car at a traffic light.
