Hire Pete Carmichael Jr. to be HC.

Sign Aaron Kromer to be OC. Kromer has been interviewed for a HC job. He is responsible for the OL and the running game of the Saints offense. He would be an excellent coordinator under Carmichael.

Sign Carl Nicks to be LG. The best LG in the game. Pay him and let Soliai walk.His demands are just too much.

Sign Aubrayo Franklin to replace Soliai if, if? we stay in a 3-4. I like the potential of that CFL guy they signed as well. Starks is decent at NT if nothing else works out.

Sign Robert Meachem WR and trade Brian Hartline. Meachem is twice the deep threat that Hartline is. He is also 30 pounds heavier and still is faster.

Sign Tracy Porter CB. Will allen is old. Tracy Porter is better and is 25. IMO Porter could be used in the nickel or outside to free up Smith to cover TE's in some situations.

What else? Trade for Willie Colon to be our RT. Steelers can't afford to keep him. They would love a trade partner, otherwise they will just cut him. I think we would get a better deal trading for him; his contract isn't that big considering his status as the number 1 pass blocking OT in the NFL 2010 season. A lot of Dolphans don't realize that the Fins were ranked 30th in the league last year in pass protection. We gave up 52 sacks!!!!!! That SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!! We need help. Aaron Kromer is an OL genius but he will need some talent to work with. I know it will be the highest priced OL in the NFL but it could bring us a Super Bowl with the right QB.

Steelers are in deep cap hell. They would love a couple players with low cap numbers. Dolphins could put a low FA tender on Merling and make him part of the deal. With 5-technique's Aaron Smith retiring and Brett Kiesel getting cut or starting on the Pup next season, they need help on the line. Dolphins could send Misi as well. Harrison is probably gone from the Steelers. His age, his cap, and his liability to the team as an antagonist to the commissioners office, make him one of the guys they cut or trade. Anyway, they need depth at LB. I wouldn't be surprised if they try him inside.Farrior and Foote are ready for the geriatric ward. Dolphins need to draft a couple pass rushers.

This is a win now scenario. Dolphins would have cap issues in 2013 if they made these moves. It wouldn't break my heart one bit if Marshall got cut in 2013 for cap reasons.

I would love this OL. Long LT...Nicks LG...Pouncey C...Incognito RG...Willie Colon RT...........Jerry,Garner,Murtha,draft pick or two for depth.

I believe an offense like this under Carmichael and Kromer would compete with or even surpass the Patriots; and we know who has the better defense. I think we would be the class of our division and go places in the playoffs for years to come.
 
It's great to finally be a fan of that team. As a Saints fan since '77 I've often been on the other end of this scenario but the Saints are finally a well run organization with an eye for both coaching and on field talent. I'd love to argue against these moves for the Dolphins but I can't. Hiring PC Jr. would be a solid move with an eye toward the future. He helps bring balance to Payton/Brees wanting to pass every down. Kromer was brought in after Doug Marrone left as OL Coach. He's done a relatively good job (with the possible exception of signing then playing Olin Kreutz). But it's the Saints scouting dept. that's continually hit homeruns along the OL - LT Jermon Bushrod 4th round pick, LG Carl Nicks 5th round pick, Center Brian De La Peunte street FA, RG Jahri Evans 4th round pick, RT Zach Streif 7th round pick.

Meachem and Porter will be salary cap causalities so they will be available. I think the Saints will push to re sign Franklin but everything to do with the Saints and FA depends on just how Brees new contract negotiations go. If the team can reach agreement with him without using the franchise tag then Nicks may get tagged or Brees may structure his deal to allow the team to try to retain guys like Nicks and Marques Colston. Brees knows how important his OL is....I'm sure he hasn't forgotten the Rams game (Kreutz's Waterloo, and injuries to both his OTs). So don't be shocked if Nicks remains. Saints GM, Mickey Loomis, is a cap and contract magician so don't be surprised when new deals start happening with the Saints (after Brees' deal is done).

Yes, Nicks coming to the Dolphins would be a long shot even if the Dolphins hired Carmichael and Kromer. I have seen him ranked the top FA behind obvious tag players like Brees.

I would be more than satisfied with just Carmichael and Kromer.

I don't know about putting responsibility for Kreutz on Kromer. That surely wasn't his decision to sign him, was it?

Yes, I totally agree with what you said about the development of the mid,late round and even an undrafted guy. You have to give some serious credit to the coaches here and Kromer in particular.
 
The Steelers are one of the best teams in handling the cap and if Keisel and Harrison do walk, they have their future replacements in Heyward and Worilds, so i doubt they would want to trade picks for Misi. They also have another young ILB who's name I can't remember.

and even if that offseason plan went 100% you guys would not match or surpass the Patriots' offense. not trying to be a troll, but come on.
 
I'm not a big fan of trading picks for olinemen. This draft has a lot of underrated prospects that can be found in the later rounds; and several of the players you mentioned (Nicks, Colon) are later round picks. Look at the Texans oline this year; it's made up of mid rounders and cast-offs who are playing at all-pro levels.

getting a strong coaching staff in place like the one the OP mentioned would go a long way.

i guess you're talking about Stevenson Sylvester. i fully expect him to start next to Timmons next year

and beyond that we're going to send Misi to them

It wouldn't bother you to cut the best receiver we've had in a long time so that we can afford a RT and LG? I know Nicks is awesome, but we already don't have a franchise QB, so we need to have SOME offensive weapons. If we don't, it doesn't matter how good our O-line is. Don't take this the wrong way, I'm not saying your plan is bad, I just don't see us making all those moves and putting us in a situation where we can't afford a QB and we end up losing our #1 receiver. In a perfect world, all of them would be nice; but there are other teams that will want those guys and to get them all we would have to significantly overpay because generally thats what happens in free agency, especially when you're a losing team.

Your not paying attention. Go look it up if you don't understand the situation. There will be cuts in Steelerville. That became obvious when they signed Ike Taylor and Woodley last year.

They are way over the cap. Restructuring can't accomplish what needs to done.

As far as their 5-techniques, they have youngsters Ziggy Hood and Heyward, that's it, no depth without Smith and Kiesel.

Worilds is nothing special at all. He isn't even as good as Misi, and Misi is nothing special, but he is better than Worilds.

I don't know who you are talking about on the inside, Sylvester?? He doesn't even fit in the 3-4. He is ST's only. Steelers are in the hurt locker big time and they have no cap room to sign anybody. They sure as hail don't have any money for signing bonuses. They would happy with any value for Colon because otherwise he just gets cut and they get nothing. Dolphins get a great player who has already received most of his bonus money.

I think it is forgone conclusion that the Dolphins will be drafting a QB this year. I just thought everyone realized that.

As far as cap difficulties in 2013, who knows, things change. I am not a fan of Marshall. He drops easy passes and most of the time on deep routes he is clueless. He is a terrible ball tracker.

He also some other issues that could get him a full season suspension. Ya, I wouldn't have any trouble with replacing him in 2013. I wouldn't have a problem if they traded him to the Jags or Vikings or whoever this year. I'd take a 2nd and a 5th for him and draft QB Brandon Weeden and WR Marvin McNutt.
