Poll: Has Jeff already earned another year?

Does JI deserve another year with good draft/ offseason?

  • No, he had his time, and it's up

    Votes: 43 40.2%
  • Yes, he seems to be getting better and should stay

    Votes: 64 59.8%

Um...if Jeff gives us the right groceries we wont be going 8-8. Who cares if FH likes the draft picks...half the people here would love our draft regardless of who was picked. I seriously dont understand the leaps in logic people take to defend Ireland. Are we to just keep firing coaches and assume the whole time its all the coach's fault? Maybe the one common denominator since 08, Jeff Ireland (you know, THE ****ING GM), should start to shoulder the blame after another bad year, no?

Or maybe we are just LOADED with Ireland talent but continue to lose. Yeah, that sounds more reasonable.

In 2007 most on here absolutely loved the draft. In 2008 a poll had John Beck over Matt Ryan by a landslide.

I believe a third option in this poll should be "Let's see what this year brings". He had a time table he wanted to follow, and as of this season, the timetable would be up. If they make the playoffs, his timetable worked and he should be retained. If it didn't he should go and we should bring someone else in. Let this rebuilt team with a franchise quarterback play its season before we determine how successful he has been.

And you spend money on top quality free agents so your rookie quarterback isnt doomed. You dont set him up to fail. You put him in the best position to have grow as possible. So why didnt we sign free agents? Because our cap space was toast, from previous free agent busts like Jake Grove and Gibril Wilson.

edit: and he got all those draft picks by trading away players we spent higher picks on. I dont give Ireland credit for getting a second round pick on a player he spent a first round pick on.

THIS

No one seems to acknowledge that THE reason we're in this mess is STILL making all the personnel decisions.

Jeff 'Buy high Sell Low" Ireland is the absolute master at over paying and getting the short end of the stick on trades. The only trade he has "won" is Reggie Bush who is no longer on the team.

the poll was wo would u rather have John Beck or Matt Ryan it was before draft. Im not exagerrating or being dishonest

I wasn't trying to insinuate that you were. Maybe some voted that way because of a certain poster whose man-crush for Matty Ice rubbed some people the wrong way.

I think a lot of people are just legitimately that blinded by aqua and orange. Loads of people defended Sparano until it was obvious he was going to be fired.

True. Some people are still bitter about being dead wrong.

He needs to win 9 games to save his job. Anything less and he will get fired.

I don't think 9 wins will do it, in order to save his job, he will have to have at least a respectable draft, and if he does, expectations will be higher then just 9 wins, Miami is going to have to reach the playoffs.

Niether have won a superbowl, and Ryan has won only one playoff game more then Beck, so even though it's should have been very obvious that Ryan would be better then Beck, Ryan has really not been a true franchise QB, so big deal.

Surround the Ice man with as much talent as possible, and let the smoke and mirror call him great, while most people will refuse to pay attention and see how good, but not great, he really is

I think Irelands fate lies in how well Philbins staff performs:

Losing record + Philbin and coaching perform admirably -- Can only blame players and talent on field = Ireland out
Losing record + Philbin and coaching look terrible -- Easy to blame coaching before players = Ireland stays

Now, the interesting question is, what happens if we make it to the playoffs, and lose due to being outmatched in talent on the field, despite Philbin and staff coaching well?
