I truly think a c is a fair grade. we have done nothgin spectacular but have added some pieces, unfortunately we have big questions in the same place the oline and now are weaker at TE. I think for alot of teams signing Kendell would be no big deal, but for us its a big deal because we have a young oline and a lack of talent at G.
Getting rid of dead wood has as much to do with the offseason grade as getting the players (and coaches)
in that we did. I do not think we are any weaker at TE as Dlockz suggests, as I was as tired as anyone watching McMichael drop almost every critical pass thrown to him last year. We have upgraded team speed and re-positioned our team to continue to add newcomers who can contribute, where we have an opportunity to do so.
A large part of the offseason makeover is the change in team culture. It's more a collective achievement-oriented attitude now than it is a tense, Saban-down-your-throat attitude. Tension is good. Tension generates the energy necessary to push yourself toward perfection and exhaustion in achieving the goal. But the tension must be positive tension vs. negative tension. Cam & Co. accentuates the positive; Saban - the negative.
All in, I gave the team an A-. I would have said an A, if Kendall gets to Miami, but I cannot grade the future if-come. And realistically, no one's grade means a hill of beans until the games are played. But if we were to grade
potential, Miami has made excellent strides. Iterations of strides will be what's necessary to get back to the playoffs, and we may get lucky and get there this year. But I am putting my money on next year. I think it takes this rookie/newcomer class a full learning year or two before they will be able to make the impact and be the star pros we want them to be.
