I agree, but in today's NFL you have to have two very good QB's to make it through the season.

Then I would love Alex Smith as a back-up QB.

Smith is 27, he has familiarity with the WCO, he turned the corner last year with a coach who knows how to develop a quarterback. He has experienced mediocre play and his ceiling is going up not down. I am intrigued by our interest in him....

How many years do we have to watch Alex smith to know he is not the answer?Is this the big splash that Ross was talking about? At least take a shot with Flynn you never know.At least with Smiyh you know what your getting.Ross is on his way to even a smaller crowd in his stadium.

I think Alex smith is a negotiation ploy ( and a good one ) to convince Flynn to accept our offer.That's all. Alex only had 17 td passes and Veron Davis made him look like an all pro in the playoffs. Flynn has more upside and will come cheaper.

Option C - Fire Ireland. Then get us a real GM who can bring in a real QB who we can build a franchise around, and and have something to be excited about.

Between these two, it has to be Flynn in my opinion. I understand it that people would say Smith has more experience, but I think we have seen his ceiling already this past season. His previous years as starter were underwhelming to say the least. Flynn on the otherhand, although he is only two starts under his belt, has shown flashes of great potential, knows the system and has a lot more upside than Smith.

In an ideal world, picking them both up on reasonable contracts and having them fight it out for the starting job with Moore (or Tannehill?) would be the way to go. However, I do not see Flynn or Smith being overly happy about that, as I can see them both expecting to be starters from day one wherever they land (or at least be paid starter money).

Let's hope Ross/Ireland don't f*** it up and we end up with nothing.
