Hey fins fans!

I’ve got a poll for everyone here so we can share some thoughts and opinions on which corner we think should start next to Xavien Howard on the boundary for the Miami Dolphins during the 2018 season opener. Who’s job is it at the start of the season? Will they keep it?

This is all assuming one of them doesn’t outclass the other during training camp.

I’ll post some stats and some career highlights for each below!

Tony Lippet 2016 stats:

Games played - 16
Tackles - 45
Passes defended - 10
INT - 4

Cordrea Tankersley 2017 stats:

Games played - 11
Tackles - 24
Passes Defended - 7
INT - 0

Should be a good battle, both guys have a reason to believe they will play.

This will get answered on the field, thankfully.

Good corner's don't sit on the bench in the NFL, so it's not like either has anything to worry about other than doing their own job.

Lipp had a hell of a 2016 season. If he could pick up where he left off he’d have to have the edge.

The problem is picking up where he left off after that particular injury isn’t so easy or likely.

I'm not sure that Lippet is really back to 100% yet so Tank has the upper hand imo

Lippett struggled to stay attached on crossing routes. Tankersley blew assignments which would seem easier corrected with reps and experience.

For the first time in a very long time, I feel confident about the secondary. We have a bonafide star In Reshad Jones, a potential star at the other saftey spot in Minkah Fitzpatick, and a great back up safety in Mcdonald. Additionally we have a potential lockdown corner in Xavien Howard, and quality depth at corner.

I think for the first time ever, for me personally anyway, the secondary seems like the strongest unit on the team. I think this is great and could lead us to surprise results. We need to hope injuries dont get crazy and we should be solid against the aerial attack.

Who ever wins the battle in camp. Tank struggles to find the ball, but is more physical and less likely to struggle vs physical WR. Tony is great at locating and making a play on the ball, but can get pushed around by physical guys, and is liability in tackling. Tony has improved so much every year, and hopefully he can continue to make strides dispite the Achilles injury. Tank was a rookie, so should improve a lot. He didn’t seem as though the game was too big or fast for him, but did appear to think too much. Hopefully he gets the class room stuff down and can go all out.

This is a good problem to have. Both are good in their own right. Tank is still developing and who knows what his ceiling is? Lippet has to get back to 100% and if he doesn't lose a step, is just above Tank in terms of producing more impact plays.

I am rooting for Lippett because he was asked to convert from a receiver to a CB. I have nothing against Tankersly and hope the best player wins the job.

I would say Tank just becuse the injury for Lippett. Otherwise I love me some Tony Lippett.

Don't sleep on McCain winning that job either. That’s who I think wins it.

Lippett is pretty darn good, but Tankersley could turn out to a very good player, add to that Lippet is coming back from surgery, and how good he can be as the added corner rather then starter (Tank is better in coverage, but Lippet will break opponents hearts with turnovers he can and will produce).

This is a tough one. Since Lippett was WR he knows how to track the ball well and has very good hands. I just think Tank understands the position better and he's a better tackler.

I gotta say, Madison, Surtain, Marion, and Sammy Knight gotta have the edge on this secondary. Throw in T-Buck and Shawn Wooden (Jamar Fletcher haha) for giggles
