the only thing i can say for sure about that grainy video was that it in fact was peyton manning...i could tell that from watching him take a few steps after he released the ball...it was dead on peyton manning manuerisms..

I'm sorry, but either you don't know what you're talking about, or you misunderstood what I was saying. Yes, Peyton Manning's neck bones are flaking away at this point. He's had two surgeries to remove bone spurs from the same area, in addition to the surgery to fix a bulging disc and the subsequent surgery to fuse his vertebrae, and already there are rumors that he may need another surgery to remove more bone spurs. So yes, Peyton's neck bones are flaking off at this point under the strain of him continuing to try and play a game he's not really healthy enough to play anymore.

CK, I respect the heck out of you and your football knowledge, but you know nothing about medicine, dude. Bones don't "flake away" unless they are cancerous or infected, and even in those situations, you have more likely fractures, known as pathologic fractures, than "flaking". Now bone spurs do form in response to unstable joints and that is called osteophytosis. It is the bodies way of trying to stabalize said joint. If the osteophytes grow large enough and in an area causing discomfort, then they would need to be removed surgically. So, unless he is continually forming osteophytes or he has another traumatic injury, I don't see another surgery for him in the immediate future.

We all know you want us to get Flynn and Tannehill, but Manning and Tanehill would be much more ideal, IMO. Peyton can show Ryan all the details he has learned through the years. What is Matt gonna teach Ryan besides the offensive scheme (which should be done by the coaches anyway)?

there's another option here though...lets say everyone is scared off by mannings medical except miami...why not sign him given your his only suitor to a pay for play contract pretty much which he's said he's ok with and double down on tannehill at #8

if the meds that sketchy you always have that option...

Another reason I take Tannehill at 8. If Manning is on a pay for play contract and can't get on the field you still have Moore for a year with Tannehill in the Wings. A concern of mine is the Redskins missing out on Manning and Griffin and drafting Tannehill at 6.

if the skins took tannehill in front of you thats just the way it goes and in the event manning doesn't give you 16 games or goes out early in the year you just ride matt moore the rest of the way anyways...and likely end up with a top 15 pick in 2013 given what kind of upside matt moore provides

i would think mannings medical outlook is gonna be reflective in the contract he signs

I guess you've not really heard of the concept of a metaphor.

Uhhh...no. If that's what you "know" then you know less than I do about medicine, evidently. I've never, ever, ever, ever espoused the idea of signing Matt Flynn AND drafting Ryan Tannehill. In fact I've chided that idea several times.

That's the only option that makes any sense and that's exactly what I've been saying for a while now.

That's the gamble. Ultimately it's one of the reasons I'd not screw around with this stuff, I'd just go after Matt Flynn.

Touchy, touchy. Geez, I was merely trying to add to the conversation here. So what exact metaphor were you trying to convey with the "bones flaking" comment? Enlighten me. I just feel like you may be misrepresenting yourself when you are talking about Peyton Manning's current medical condition, whether speculation or not. So many people on this site trust what you have to say, including me, but you have NO IDEA about whether or not he will need more surgery. Talk all you want about his presurgery velocity and deep ball, but you should definitely leave out any medical metaphors, IMO.

Sorry I misspoke about your QB desires. You'd rather have Flynn than Manning, right? That is what I gather from all your pro-Flynn posts. Or do you want Tannehill at 8? I did not mean to offend you when I included Tannehill in the proposed plan. Just trying to interpret what I read here on this site. I don't subscribe to our posts or anything, so I guess I missed the few where you implicitly stated your wishes for the 2012 Dolphins QB.

There, see how easy that was. If you disagree with me, you don't need get all defensive about it.

nobody here or in the media has peytons medical records. nobody here or in the media knows what interest miami or any other team has in peyton. nobody here or in the media knows how peyton is progressing. to make assumptions based on rumors or erroneous reports by the self serving media is beyond ridiculous. we can debate all day but for some to act like they know its a mistake to sign peyton is a joke. until there are real facts then we can we start making valid points until then its all just here say.

Dude, it's a metaphor. You're acting like I just took money for a medical opinion. His vertebra in the same area as the fusion are producing bone spurs at an alarming rate, probably due to compression of discs which have resulted in a loss of elasticity and the infamous bone-on-bone thing, which produces lipping and other forms of bone spurs. I refer to that as "flaking like a french pastry". So what? I didn't go to medical school. I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. But I am pretty well informed on the issues surrounding Peyton's neck. I know one orthopedic doctor that I've been in weekly discussion with about exactly this topic for months. He keeps up on every piece of news and every development, and listening to his commentary has certainly helped me frame exactly what's likely to be going on in Peyton's neck. He's posted medical studies on the topic that I've read as well, and whenever I get stuck on a concept, I do plenty of my own research because that's what I do. If you want to act all holier than thou as if nobody without the d-r-period in front of their name should ever make any informed comments, hyperbolic or not, on the subject...have at it. Don't expect me to abide your request, though.

Now on the other hand if you want to address the obvious metaphor I used and say something along the lines of, I see what you're getting at but I don't agree with that metaphor in this example for X, Y and Z reasons, that would come off a lot less dick than kicking off with the whole "You know football but you know nothing about medicine" schpiel...which is highly inappropriate given that it was just a metaphor, a semi-apropos one at that, I never claimed to be able to give a thorough medical prognosis.

You can interpret my 'tone' on a computer message board however you want, hoss. I was just setting you straight on what I've actually been saying. You wrote that "we all know" that I want Flynn and Tannehill. If other people read that suddenly they think that's what I've been saying, and they accept that without actually reading what I've written. It's interesting though that you interpreted what I said as being "touchy" considering the high horse lecture you had just got done giving me about an obvious and semi-apropos piece of hyperbole.

P. Manning....then we draft a guy who will be ready to go in 2-3 years. Manning would become the face of the franchise, increase our attendance, and give us some cred and respect. I can't think of a more liked and respected person in the NFL than P. Manning, and if his dad says "Peyton is back to being Peyton," that is good enough for me.

Check it out. A paragraph long metaphor.....

That does not sound like metaphor. That sounds like you stating for a fact that Manning's "neck bones are flaking away". Spin it all you want. It's right there in quotes and you say it multiple times. How do you know there are any other bone spurs, or "flakes" as you metaphorically call them? That is my whole point. You have no idea and I bet your orthopedist buddy doesn't either. Don't make it sound like a fact when you have no idea. But, you keep doing things your way and we can all call it "journalism".

Dismiss what I say all you want. You're the one that is getting defensive and acting like whatever you say is gold. It's not, which is why you got shut down on NFL network. I just lost all respect with your responses to me in this post, calling me hoss and telling me I'm on a high horse after pre-empting my point about how much I respect your football opinion. I'm not on a high horse, just trying to set the record straight.

Just like every other internet "expert" I guess. Get all defensive when someone disagrees with you. Funny thing is, I can admit when I'm wrong, like I did in my previous post. But there is no way you could possibly be incorrect, huh? Just cause you talk to an orthopedic surgeon doesn't mean you know what Peyton's health status is. Every doctor will tell you that EVERY patient is different. Speculate all you want. Make all the metaphors you want. Again, just to make my point clear, you have NO IDEA the state of Peyton Manning's health.

Your temper tantrum says a lot more about you than it does me, lol.

Right, cause you didn't have a temper tantrum in your previous post. Sounds like you're hypocritically interpreting my "tone". Lol. Funny stuff right there. At least you've conceded. Therefore, I can only conclude that you've realized you were wrong about Peyton Manning's spine disintegrating.
