Personally, I think it's a very selfish thing to do. I have lost tons of respect for him. Noone should put themselves above the entire team like that. SOme will say Favre IS the Packers, yadda, yadda, yadda, but how do you think his teammates are percieving him now. I wouldn't want him back. WHat he has said, done, and demanded, is a total slap in the face to everyone in the organization. As a teammmate, I would feel insulted by the fact that he has publicly stated that there is not enough talent on the Packers to make him want to come back. That may be true, but that is just not something you say PUBLICLY. Most of the team from last year will be back, regardless of who they might sign or draft. I just can't imagine him being recieved back with open arms by these players who are so inferior to King Favre. He needs to realize that the talent around him wasn't the only problem last year. His declining skills and bad decisions (and his mountain of INTs) sure didn't help the Pack's cause.

If anything he is helping the Packers

He basically said if they dont improve the team he definitly wont come back, so that should make them try and land some players and have a shot at competeing

He is in a crappy situation, but he needs to stop being selfish and make a decision.
My take on the situation is like this. He wants out, but if he asks to be cut all the fans will turn on him. The organization wants him out, but if they cut him the fans will turn on the organization. So it is like a no win for either side.

It looks pretty clear what the majority wants. I wonder how this poll would turn out on a Packers message board.

I've also lost a lot of respect for him...what he is doing is no worse than what Ricky did by calling it quits right before training camp. All of the potential FA quarterbacks are being snapped up. If Brett retires now he leaves the Pack holding the bag with an un-tested Aaron Rogers. The Pack should call Brett and say, "Look we need an answer NOW." If Brett says, "well, um, ahhhh, I dunno, I am not really sure?" I would say, "Brett thank you very much, you have just been released."

I think we're blaming favre too much. The packers front office is the one screwing over green bay, not favre. Obviously what favre wants is improvements to the team. He only wants to come back if they can win. Its been months since their last game, if he wanted to retire, he would've done it way back.

First of all, the packers messed up bigtime last year with Rodgers. Second of all, they've done nothign all to improve their team. They have huge cap space and can definatly afford people.

LaVar is one of those guys they must get. He'll turn up the crowd and add toughness to the defense. With LaVar and maybee Hawk from the draft, that defense will turn around fast, and that just might be the thing that Favre is waiting for. LaVar.

Lastly, if I was in favres situation, I'd do the exact same thing. Obviously it is his last season, and obviously he wants to end it on a high note. Like a playoff game. With a team with no improvements from the year before, he'll get nowhere. With a big name on his team, he will get the support he needs to make the playoffs.

I agree...it just seems self centered and imature. I just can't see Marino doing something like that. Just seems strange to me.
