the guy is never gonna get a real chance here. this is what ego is all about in professional sports. mueller and saban want this to pan out because they will look like the geniouses that turned spielman and wanny's crap deal for aj into gold. i'd be willing to bet that when we are no longer in contention it is lemon that gets the opportunity and not sage.

think about it for a second....Sage is a FA after this season

Lemon has all of the physical tools you look for in a QB-great mobility, good arm, and good decisions.

Both have showed good play in the preseason, BUT Lemon is still signed for another season. Therefore, it is more likely that Cleo would have a future because the team doesn't have to resign him, and he is extremely cheap....

what ego? they want to win. lemon is a better 3rd stringer than feeley, and they save cap space. it's a smart move

if sage wants a chance, he has to earn it. 3 head coaches, and 2.5 (foerster doesn't count as a whole) offensive coordinators have passed him over here.

In the preseason Saban said the future qb may already be on this team. Sage threw for more yards than anyone in preseason and knocked some of you guys favorite qb to 3rd string. He didn't try to trade for a possible starter he got a lemmon. As bad as some of you feely lovers hate it Sage will start at some point and lemmon and feely will be doing what they was born to do Hold a clipboard.

Poor Sage - making nearly $1 million per year and will be able to retire one day a multi-millionaire and his body completely intact. Poor Sage.

i thought sage just resigned this past offseason?

one year deal.

If Gus continues to play bad, both Sage and Cleo will get their chance to prove themselves.

Cleo has the making of a good QB (strong arm, accurate, smart, mobile), and his mobility would help out offense. The one knock on him is he played for Arkansas State.

Steve McNair.....Alcorn State

in no way am I saying they're of the same ability, but a QB from a very small school can succeed

I think Sage will get his chance if we are out of playoff contention or division is no longer in reach, I think that is when we bench Gus and start Sage. I think people overhyping Cleo Lemon way too much, I mean I hope for him to have success here but I don't think he'll see the field this season unless it's via injuries, Sage is our #2.

That's what I was just thinking, poor Sage.

I really hope he gets another chance before they decide to throw Lemon into the game.

But I'm not completely throwing Ferotte out yet...let's see what he can do against Surtain and the rest of the Chiefs D.

yeah but he's pretty much the only one to succeed (recently anyway)

i agree. it makes no sense for san diego to trade this kid if he has major upside/potential and is also very cheap, especially for a late round dp and a qb that doesnt appear will ever ammount to more than a 3rd stringer.
