Pope is always around the ball and hits like a truck. Spragan is quick but seems to always be out of position to make the play or just plain average. Pope should be the starter IMO.:dolphins::dolphins::dolphins::dolphins:

I liken Pope to Yeremiah Bell. He needs his chance to show what he can do. I agree that Pope would be a better option then Spragan just like Bell was better then Tillman.

I dont think Pope could play the Sam. The Will or maybe the Mike... but I think he would get eaten up at the Sam...

That's just plain silly.

Spragen is never heard from yes, but that is also good, because your not hearing his name is in (SPRAGEN JUST GOT BURNT!!!)

And I don't think Pope is quick enought to play the Sam!

He is doing his job, and don't you think that if Capers or Saban thought Pope was better, he would be playing more???

Yeah it means he is doing exactly what we want him to do. Play sound football

There are two times you hear a players name called

1) When he makes a great play (Jason Taylor)

2) When they make a horrible play (Reggie Howard)

I was thinking the same thing and I hope Saban gives Pope the chance that he gave Bell.:dolphins::dolphins::dolphins:

I'm a Pope fan. Really, I am. He's one of my favorite players. But I think he will be the starting Will in the future.

As for Spragan, while he's not lighting the world on fire, he's the definition of solid. I would much rather not hear his name then hear his name in the negative sense.

Not necessarily. Why was Tillman starting the whole time until they finally figured out that Bell was better as our starter at strong safety? But yes Pope is only 5'11" 230-235 pounds. Probably would be a better weakside LB.

because you heard Tillman's name being called for being burnt or in the wrong position all the time.

You don't see or hear that with Spragen, its a big difference.

I think Saban is doing a great job but he has made mistakes. Bell should have started the season as the SS but Sabans love affair with Tillman cost us some points. Starting Culpepper when he was not really ready to comeback. Saban is a great coach for the Fins but he is not perfect but he is doing a good job to make the the team better.:dolphins:

Derrick Pope would be worthless at Strongside OLB. He'd have to line up over the TE and take on blockers every play. That doesnt fit his skills or his body type.

Yes but Spragan has been knocked on his butt a few too many times. Spragan doesn't play physical at all. I guess that's the part that bothers me the most about him. He is too much finesse.

I think we have all learned something about Saban this year. The man is not perfect, but who is, but he also will not rest until he gets things right. I think he's an amazing coach and will be successful at this level.

I find it funny that Pope is listed as being 6'0" when he was only about 5'10 1/2 at the scouting combine when he was measured. He's not much taller then Zach Thomas is. Pope is a tough guy though. He can pack a wallop when he hits a ballcarrier.
