Porter apologizes to teammates, Sparano

Joey Porter is tough enough to take on anybody, and smart enough to know when he’s wrong.
Porter personally apologized to Dolphins coach Tony Sparano for refusing to leave the closing minutes of Sunday’s 48-28 loss to the Patriots after he drew 15-yard penalties on back-to-back plays.
Not only did Porter apologize to Sparano, he apologized to the rest of his Dolphins teammates as well. Porter knows that what he did Sunday was wrong and he tried to take responsibility for it after the fact.
Porter earned an unnecessary roughness penalty on one play, an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the next, and the attention of Sparano. When Sparano tried to replace Porter with Charlie Anderson, Porter waved off Anderson in an act of insubordination to his coach.
It’s always possible there could be further repurcussions from the team or the league. But Sparano has said these matters stay within the team, that’s it. But both sides are attempting to put the incident behind them and focus on Sunday’s game at St. Louis.

Why would the league get involved in what is a team matter? Porter is not the first player to refuse to come out of a game when told to by the coaches and I guarantee he won't be the last. I guess Adam Schefter likes to overreact in these matters as well as some fans do.

If the league gets involved it would be because of the two penalties not because of anything else.

I missed those two fouls. Does anyone know what Joey did out there on those two plays?

Good, im glad he's taking responsibility for his actions. With an ego like his, that's pretty damn big of him.

Let's see what Tony decides to do.

I think it handled adequatly. He went over the line and owed his team and his coach not to mention us his fans an appology. He did that and it was released to the media. If it reoccurs then it will be necessary to revisit the issue but if its just an isolated issue that occurred from being in an emotionally charged game, then you let sleeping dogs lie. As long as Sporano remains in control, let it be kept in house. It's an unneeded and unwanted distraction right now and the faster and further we can put it behind us, the better off the team is.

good now that its behind everyone lets focus on st louis and hopefully porter and the defense will have a monster game!!

I think he needs to at least be hit with a fine. It shows a clear message to the rest of the team that you don't disrespect the coach like that. I like Porter and all but Sporano's the coach and he needs to assert himself on this issue.

Ha Ha Ha .....overreact?....

After those 2 nasty penalties?...send this clown back to VEGAS and let him roll around on a Casino floor some more...maybe he can get a job as a bouncer somewhere out there. J.P. is an embarrassment.
Get lost, JOSEPH!

Joey should be the waterboy for the team in addition to playing LB this week against the Rams. He's been playing like Bobby Boucher, let him bring the players water.

Or he can be sentenced to be Sparano's butler...

I actually think this may help Porter. He got called out, hes embarassed, what better way to earn back your respect than to have a monster game.

Poor Trent Green, or Bulger...whoever we face.
