Looks like Porter will not be playing this Thursday vs Carolina. Personally I think he deserves this benching and I do believe that he will not play vs Buffalo the week after. BUT I bet ( 2 to 1 - any takers...lol...j/k) he comes back the week after @ home vs the Pats.

I think this benching is due to the health of Porter (knee & hamstring) and to motivate him a bit. Let him understand that the team comes first and he needs to get 100% healthy. Porter is a prideful guy and will come out on a tear once he's re-activated.

I for one did not forget - like most have here - about how important he was to last season's success. I know he has a BIG contract next year, but I can't believe people want him CUT this offseason and havn't even thought of re-negotiating his contract. WOW! 25+ teams in the league would take Porter in a heartbeat. You guys are ridiculous sometimes. He knows what it takes to win.

he does know what it takes to win. And apparently its 0 tackles.

I wouldn't mind seeing Porter deactivated for the rest of the season. Most likely scenario is that he sits out this game and comes back for Barffalo.

No offense i do like joey porter but there is absolutely no excuse why a 3-4 LB should end playing a full game with 0 tackles 0 sacks. The 3-4 is made for the Lbs to Flourish. Unacceptable. Now if hes injured which i think he is, he needs to sit is butt down and not put himself before the team.

Speculation by Mort. As the Herald points out, this is probably a wrong report. I bet Joey plays.

It seems to be PURE speculation. Mort seems to be wrong at least as often as he gets it right.

Cowher had his hands full keeping Porter in line when they were with the Steelers.

We need to either get some production out of Porter or let him sit and rest and stew for later. He isn't very good at stopping the run and that has to be our #1 priority on Thursday.

Just reported on WQAM, Big O Show, that Joey WILL play on Thursday, but no indication of how much or if he starts.
