I was driving home to Ft. Lauderdale today and had some time to just think about the team while I was in the car (What else would I be thinking about other than the Fins?). During the trip, I started to think about the effect Porter will have on Crowder this year.

Over the past couple of years, Crowder has been tutored by Zach, one of the best LB’s in the game… especially at preparation and studying game film… and knowing where the play is going even before the ball is snapped. I don’t think any of us can question the amount of positive influence Zach has had on Crowder.

Now this off season… we added Joey Porter to our LB crew. I personally think that the addition of Porter will help bring out a different side of Crowder that we have yet to see. We all know Crowder is an animal, and is a crazy mother ****er. Whether its wrestling wild boars or taking on an entire bar in a fight…

However, over the past couple of years Crowder has learned under one of the more cerebral LBs in the league in Zach. I think Porter will mentor that aspect of his game and help him release that crazy side. Having Porter will help unleash Crowder… and make him into a true destructive force to be reckoned with.

Not just with Crowder but Porter will have an affect on the enitre LB corps. Porter role is to be the impact player the guy who takes the chances to force the key fumble to tip the ball that leads to a TO. Porter is there to amp up the aggression to the next level. Influence that rubs off on Crowder to play aggressive but smart. Now we have the established vet that plays smart and hard in Zach combined with the gambler and explosive LB in Porter. It will make Crowder a better LB as he will be freed up to do more things as opposing Os must take into account Porter's presence.

I think the main thing Porter will bring to our linebacking corp, and not just Crowder, is a lot of intensity. We have not had a lot of vocal leaders over the years, who brought a lot of intensity and swagger.

i just hope that porter and channing dont hit up south beach very often cause they could easily find trouble with their aggressive personalities

I just think that the aggressiveness Crowder will gain from Porter... plus the intelligence and game smarts he already has learned from Zach... will really make him that much better of a LB in all aspects of his game.

I think Matt Roth challenged a whole bar to a fight. But yeah Joey will be a great mentor.

Good point! Don't forget Junior Seau was also here to mentor and give a few words of wisdom. Channing has most definatley been around great athletes at the LB position, and let's not forget Jason Taylor who I'm sure channing looked up too when he first got here.

Forget Porter. If you want him to release his crazy side, just room him with Matt Roth during training camp.

Porter bring the ability for us to blitz effectivly from the LB position. Zach isn't a good blitzer at all, Channing has been ok, but Porter really brings another dimention to this teams blitzing and I cant wait too see what happens on defense this year.

Would Channing Crowder have been a part of the Florida NCAA champs?...

That's the one downside about Miami. It's very easy to stray from the straight path, as there are many temptations. South Beach being one of them. :cooldude:

Just like my siggy says.. "release the Beast" we gonna see that from CC this season

i think crowder is ready to explode this year. porter will help him realize his potential.

Think abouot his not only will he be learning from Three Great Player (ZACH JASON JOEY) but know that every one will be focusing on these three he will be free to run wild i have a good feeling that h will make pro bowl
