Over the last 16 regular season dolphins games, Joey Porter has totaled 9.5 sacks. That production simply dosent match his mouth or his salary.

So far this season Joey has posted a whopping 12 tackles and 2.5 sacks.

Porter appologists are going to say a couple things.....he missed 1 of those games. True. He did miss 1 game. Consider that. But, also consider this is regular season games and the phins did play a little thing called a home playoff game last season in which Porter posted 3 tackles and zero sacks.

You might also want to suggest well Porter isnt supposed to rack up tackles. Thats true as well. His role is to make big plays on defense and get after the QB. Well, 9.5 sacks is a pretty decent number over a season........for guys who play different roles and contribute on making run stops as well. For a guy who's primary job is to make plays and get after the QB, 9.5 sacks isnt too great. Especially when they make huge money and run their mouths as if they are the best player on the field.

So over the last 16 phins games(even if you count the 16 Poozy played in by throwing in the playoff game and throwing out the regular season game he missed this year) Poozy has totaled 9.5 sacks and 31 tackles. Hardly great numbers.

Also consider he got 2 sacks in one of those games vs. the Bills(whos OL is one of the worst ever) and 1.5 vs. the Faiders. Take out those 2 games and its 6 sacks over a 14 game span.

He also only had 5.5 sacks for a full season in 07, his first with the phins.

The guy racked up big totals in the first 10 games or so last season, then pretty much went ghost(while we were WINNING down the stretch of course) and has stayed missing going into this season.

Pretty much he is LIVING off one big game vs. the Pats last year where he had 4 sacks on an inexperienced Matt Cassel. He also totaled 4 sacks in 2 games vs. the horrible Bills OL. Throw in the Faiders and that was 9.5 of his 17.5 sacks for last season. Thats 8 sacks in the other 13 games. Basically......pretty much what he does.

Given the rest of his numbers, J-Poozy is more or less a guy who on avg. will give you 8 sacks or so in a season. Thats all he is good for.......well that and talking a big game while bringing nothing to the table. Oh and jumping guys in casinos when he is with several friends and the people he jumps are alone.

Enough with this clown. He is overpaid and isnt worth the headache. He simply dosent make enough game changing plays to warrant his salary, nor to back up his big talk and make him worth putting up with the headache. He is bad for the dolphins franchise.

If you want to call Porter out, then you should focus on 2009 and not get into 2008.

If he has 9.5 sacks in his last 16 games and 2.5 in 8 games this year, that means he had 7.5 sacks in his last 8 games in 2008. Why would you bother including those games if you want to reiterate that he sucks?

This will be Porter's last season in Miami. Charlie Anderson and Cam should rotate in at that position more the rest of the way. Maybe if his snaps are reduced he will have some juice to make a play here and there.

This team needs at least 3 new linebackers in the offseason. I am not sure we can get enough talent in one offseason. I would guess the next two offseasons will be heavily focused on linebacker, NT, and safety. If we draft well, by the fall of 2011, this defense could finally have the parts Parcells envsions.

Because Im trying to be fair about it. So I am. And I still come up with that he skewed his numbers by raking up sacks vs. an inexperienced Cassel in a game in which NE trailed by a large margin throughout and were forced into many certain passing situations. Then he got some sacks vs. Buffalo whos OL is weak as hell and Im sure they were trailing by a lot in those games. Throw in another 1.5 vs. the Faiders and he was making a living last year off inferior competition and not showing up when we needed him to in big games.....thats all.

By bringing up last season, a season in which statistically he dominated like no other season in his career, it challenges head on the apologists.

Also, by totaling his last 16 games, it gives a larger sample than just the first 8 this season. It lends the argument to be fair, and yet it still points to Poozy being nothing more than a very average pass rusher who gets paid elite pass rusher money and talks and elite pass rushers game.

7 sacks over the last nine games last year(counting the playoff) and 2.5 through the first 7 this year(he missed a game). Really it points to what he is normally worth....around 8 or 9 sacks(5.5 in all of 07) in a season while not being a factor in the run stopping game(low tackles) and weak in coverage.

I think you will see him total more over the last 8 games this year than he got in the first half. We will be playing some weaker opponents. Just shows that when we play the big dogs, Poozy really dosent come with anything so he needs to stfu and stop acting like he is one of the big dogs and belongs on that level.....he dosent. My research shows it.

But, hell I already knew this from watching games. I was just gathering some data that supports my opinions on the clown.

It wouldve been easy to say well he only has 2.5 sacks this season....... he sucks. But, I wanted to give some of the apologists arguments some consideration and by using numbers even from his most dominant statistical year, I can still point to Poozy being a very average pass rushing specialist.

2/3s of the Miami defense has been sub par so far this season, Joey Porter included. It is hard to focus on one particular player. Next offseason I expect us to focus on the teams linebackers or nose tackle with our first round pick.
