Porter's trash talk inspires Fins

it took him two years and some departures but Joey porter is now in the position he covets....The leader of a football team. Please joey show class and humility as you lead our team...

People really do not understand the value of trash talk. I think Ferguson's quote should be an indicator of what it does to the opposing teams mindset. If Porter can get in one man's head.....I'm all for it...so long as he produces on the field as well.

I think Porter's secondary job is to get the whole team fired up to play on Sunday.

when he was brought in, thats what i remember Zach Thomas saying about Joey Porter, that he brings an attitude. Now hes teaching it to guys and its catching on.

Look at Merling and Langford. these guys want the QB bad because Porters showing them why.

I think his play on the field may have fired some people up, but please get off this Porter as a great leader. He is a guy with a big mouth that has backed it uplike once in the last three years. Where was his leadership last year and what affect did it have. Give me Jason taylor over this dog fighting dufus anyday.

but please get off this Porter as a great leader.

your not on the team, it doesnt matter if he "inspires or fires you up" If hes a leader to those players out there, then hes a leader.

end of discussion.

Point noted, but as he said he's been played out of position. I think he is going to have a big year, and be a good teacher for the younger players. I like a player that got a fire burning in him.

I want to know where his career ending back injury has gone? Wher's all the "he's washed up and over the hill" talk......crickets chirping.

Also, I really would love to know how many people here actually ever played organized football. Seriously folks, TO talks trash and he plays, Chad Johnson Talks trash and he plays, Steve Smith Talks trash and he plays. Anyone remember a guy named LT...the original? Anyone remember the trash he would talk?

Football is an emotional sport, with peaks and valleys. Trash talking has been part of this sport since the day it was invented. Why all of a sudden it's "TABOO" to talk trash simply boggles the mind. I did it when I played , the teams I played did it when we played them and my son was doing it when he played. Since when has verbal etiquette been a respected and expected form of behavior in football? To complain about trash talking in football, is like complaining about the sharp edges on your freshely pressed shirt from the cleaners. It makes no sense.

Just saying Porter is not the leader people make him out to be. People confuse talking smack with leadership. So its not the end of discussion until maybe after my comment.

I agree 100%

Good post.

If hes a leader to them, hes a leader. The end

everybody talks trash, some just get more publicity. As the guy above said, if you don't think it happens, you never played football.

Well his leadership last year yielded us 1-15 so I could do with some real leadership from the coaches and guys like Chad Pennington. I played football in high school and in army trash talk is a big part of football but it is not indicative of a person's leadership ability. Believe me on the battlfield or football field smack talk is not confused with leadership.

You can't use last year as a measuring stick for anything going on this year.

Well thats the only full season I can talk about with Joey with the phins. Seriosuly I dont blame him for us going 1-15 but I dont see him as this great leader of the defense. If he keeps playing like he did sunday, then he will be a leader based on what he did on the field and not running his mouth.
