Manny Wright is a nose tackle now and Jeff Zgonina has been moved to defensive end according to an article in the Miami Herald. Also, McKinney has been working at guard and Hadnot is getting all the snaps at center.

This may explain Carter's response to Jason Cole's question about the backup NT spot.

Wow, Manny reporting at almost 360 pounds is ridiculous!!!! At least he's 343 now and working on getting down to 330. A guy who is 6'6" is a little tall for a nose tackle.

Manny Wright is too young of a player to be obese, man.

I can sense a weight problem coming every year in camp with this guy. :shakeno:

But at least he seems to be shedding it pretty fast. He knows he's going to play a bigger role this year so he seems to be working towards that now.

He ain't in momma's kitchen anymore eating homemade fried chicken.

Mmmmmm...fried chicken.

As long as he sheds it and is at a proper weigh for the regular season.

Tim Bowens was always out of shape in the offseason and always played a bit heavier in the season then his listed weight.

Didn't Bowens also always blame it on Momma's cooking?

Well... you know... When your bust out that home made cooking, you can't help but get your grub on.

Maybe by some people standards but Tim Bowens was 6'4 and Bob Baumhower was 6'5 and these guys did pretty well at NT. It's more about how you maintain your leverage, and throw your weight around, then your height.

I don't remember the way Saban had the guys practice last year on the DL, but remember that Carey took all the snaps at LT thru the minicamps and most of TC before being moved back to RT. That is the way HH works his OL guys....

I am still facinated by how Hud moved people around last year. It was contrary to everything we have ever heard about how they need to "gell" to be effective.

This would make sense to me as Hadnot was a centre at college and McKinney has hardly been inspiring at that spot. I would imagine come the season opener, baring injury, only one of these two will be in the starting front five.
