Ok, I know everyone has differences of opinions on the ability of different players, but overall. looking ahead to week 3, 5, 7, or 10 who, or what positions do you see us argueing about as the reasons for a loss, or almost giving away a victory?

In the past we seemed to not blame position as much as the play calling. With the exception of Reggie Howard. When Mularkey was hired, I remember people saying that his play calling became predictable. I don't know if that's true or not, but I can see that debate resurfacing again.

I think the only spot we are thin at is DT/NT. Traylor is coming off an injury and an arrest, Manny Wright didn't exactly endear himself to the coaches and his fellow players by showing up to camp significantly overweight, Kevin Vickerson is coming off a season ending unjury and Fred Evans seems to need both work and seasoning. I think this position would be stronger if we signed Dan Wilkinson to a 1 or 2 year deal.

Linebacker isn't going to be as much problem as some here think. Spragan, Hodge and Newman aren't Pro-Bowlers, but they are solid starters and role players. Throw in David Bowens as a pass rushing OLB and we have some good starters.

I totally agree on the NT position. Miami only has ONE true nose. Traylor has lost some tread on those wheels, but can still be effective. The question is: Can he remain healthy for an entire season? I surely hope. Wright needs to step up his game. My understanding is, he has great talent with not-so-great motivation.

Oddly, my other position of concern is QB. Can C-Pepp stay healthy? There has been much debate over whether or not his knee will give him problems over the course of the season. I think we all have ultimately come to the conclusion that he will sustain some type of swelling and immobility. Will it hinder his overall performance on the field? Will he push it to the point to re-injury? Time will only tell. I like Harrington, but I am not sure if he will be quite as an effective starter. Luckily, he has had some snaps in the past. IF he does come in for a long period during the season, I expect Miami to become more of what we saw in the early part of the century: a hardnosed running football team. I love RB, but I would not want Miami to overuse him.

Thirdly, the backup RB position is a concern. Miami has a few decent backups, but none I would be comfortable with if RB happens to go down.

On paper, Miami has several studs as starters. What happens if one (or more) goes down to injury? Who steps it up? Depth at positions like DE, NT, and RB, are of my most concern. We'll just have to wait and see. Hopefully, NONE of these guys have issues through the duration, but odds are, SOMEONE will get injured. But to what extent and for how long are the issues.

I think our secondary has legitimate questions. I also don't believe Culpepper will be %100 until 2007. Look how long it took Edgerin and he only tore his ACL. I do, however, think Culpepper will be ok at even %90 becuase he is not totally dependent upon his legs like Edge was.
