It is amazing that people are valueing Wr Calvin Johnson as the best player in the draft.
If you analyze the positions in football, no position is more overrated and overvalued than the WR .
If an offensive team runs 60 plays and 30 are run and 30 are pass, a WR is basically non-existant in 30 running plays.
Since most WR are targeted by the QB maybe 10-15 tops, then that WR only plays a major role in 20%.
Yet the OLineman plays a major role in every single play, as does the DL and LBs. The QB is more important than any WR.

If Oakland drafts Johnson over Russell or Quinn, they are stupid.

Hmm. Well, some might say that a game breaking receiver with freakish size and speed like for example randy moss, would open up the running game because the defense wouldn't be able to cheat on the run by for example putting an eighth man in the box. He would also draw double coverage and would open up the passing game for the other receivers.

However, in order for this to happen, you'd have to buy into the hype that CJ is a once in a generation player who could make defenses not only adjust, but be frightened and the ripple effect of that would be that the running game and other skill positions would benefit.

Having said all of that, you'd still need someone to throw him the rock

Wow

Calvin Johnson is one of the best WR prospects ever. Its been a very long time since anyone has been so NFL ready at this stage. He's the surest thing in the draft bar none.

I disagree. If you have a great WR, he makes those 30 pass plays better, one-by making plays and two-opening up plays for other WRs and the TE.

He also makes your run game better by giving your offense the option to run on pass downs and pass on run downs. Great players transcend their mere ability to touch the ball X-number of times.

Michael Irvin, Lynn Swann, Marvin Harrison...all had great impacts on their SB teams. Great players can elevate the whole offense.
