• After calling his first Dolphins game this year, CBS lead analyst Phil Simms shared several thoughts off air: ``They are a lot closer than people think. They need a franchise offensive lineman. Ronnie Brown can be close to LaDainian Tomlinson. . . . I'm still intrigued by Chris Chambers. To be great, receivers [need] to have the ball thrown their way a lot and make great plays look routine. Great receivers would have made some of those plays Sunday.''

Sounds good to me, I've still got faith in CC as well.

I could tell from the broadcast that Phil seemed high on the Fins (but Jim Nance was bringing him back down to earth with things like "he's got to make that play" and "that was a catchable ball").

But, the thing that I find most interesting is that he states that we need a franchise OL. Being a QB, I would think that he would look at that side of the ball first. But, to see an OL as a need greater than QB or WR is interesting to me.

Silly rabbit, as a QB, Phil Simms understands the importance of the offensive line. Remember, football is the only true team sport left...and the offense relies on the offensive line for everything....blocking for the running back and blocking for the QB. Remember...oh...what's his name...uh...Drew Brees? From San Diego i think it is (sarcasm). His first fiew years in San Diego, he had no offensive line, then the O line improves dramatically and what happens? he has a Pro Bowl year. Some of my first threads dealt with the need for the offensive line. Glad to know that great minds think alike!

nothing agenst Brown, but... come on. noone in the NFL is "close" to LT.

Listening to him call the game on Sunday, you could tell Simms liked this Saban-coached Phins team. It almost sounded like he wanted us to win.

One franchise Olineman is a lot different than a WHole oline, so we are makingprogress

he said he is "...still intrigued" by CC...translation - regardless of all these drops, the guy still may be a player...

But then he says "...great receivers would have made some of those plays...." i.e. CC is not great due to either his own limitations, the limitations of Dolphin's QB's that can get him the rock (or the coach's not calling plays for him to get the rock) or all of the above...

Shaun Alexander is pretty close to LT.

well maybe he didn't say anything about our QB cause he happened to call the game where gus threw for 360 yards, haha... if he saw some of our other games he would have said we need a QB desperately... he caught gus on a rare good day...

"can be close" not "is close"

Different.
hell, any RB comming out in this draft "can be close". but realistically, probubly none will be.

He also went out of his way to give us all new and creative examples of what is NOT pass interference on Sunday in a blatant attempt to make the refs look competent. I'll take the compliments for what they're worth, but nothing more.
