Hey, nobody said it would be easy (and the people who did think it would be easy, maybe they will set back into reality and realize this is the NFL and nothing comes easy) but despite what some people have been calliing "unimpressive win" and "we play down to our opponent" blah blah . . I want to point out the positives and negatives that I saw.
Positives:
Ginn is a BEAST in the return game, and we all need to wonder where was he in week 1 . . . in that important division game against the Jets . . . this always has been my biggest head scratcher with TS and company. I'm sure he will be on punts soon, u need that extra threat, Bess doesn't give you that. I was at a bar for the first half, and I don't think people thought he was that fast. Ginn is 21 I believe . . . he wont get tired lol, give him the work.
And I don't think they knew Ginn has the hands that he displayed on the flea flicker, and him and Pennington are starting to get something going in the pass game . . . essential for the success of this team. Teddy bear Ginn is starting to make his presence felt on a weekly basis.
The wildcat is BACK!! Not much motion on the plays that worked, and I think that fooled the defense. That formation with Cobbs, Ricky and Ronnie in the backfield is SICK, SICK, SICK, what a way to get your playmakers in the game at the same time . . . 3 RB's in the backfield . . geez, pick your poison.
Ricky is FAST, holy smoke . . . I think he is faster than Ronnie, and Ronnie runs a sub 4.4 . . . good to see him having a big game.
Chad P with another big play . . . this man and his scrambling, wow he is elusive . . . that scramble and roll out to find Bess was a thing of beauty . . . and the emotion after the play, I love Chad P, what a leader.
Another HUGE 4th quarter Drive . . . I love the theme that is developing with this offense . . . they can drive 90 yards in the 4th quarter. . . and I love that about them. 16 plays, 79 yards . . . over 9 minutes . . incredible.
The Defense did NOT lay down. Even in 2002 when we had that great defense . . . they were notorious for laying down when it counted the most . . . the D stepped up yesterday (on 2 point conversion and the final drive). . gave up 12 points . . . Seneca did look comfortable on occasion, but he is better than people give him credit for . . regardless, the D played tuff yesterday, and this secondary . . . man I love these guys, they don't even challenge Goodman anymore LOL. Will Allen and Bell, big games from these 2 yesterday. Crowder, yoooo, the man made some big hits yesterday, nah he isn't Zach, but he is improving every week, this was his best game this year. JPeezy picked up another .5 sack. He is up to 12.
The OLine . . . I know people are like huh? Yea Seattle confused them today with the different blitz packages they were throwing . . . they seemed to pressure on 1st down and 2nd down ALOT, to put us in 3rd and long situations . . . actually a smart game plan by Holmgren and company. But these guys still held their own, gave Chad P time for the most part and they had some serious blocks in the running game. Remember this is a young unit still, with a problem at RG . . . and they will still struggle on occassion, but they are doing a hell of a job this year. Justin Smiley and Jake Long (leftside). . . I'll put em right behind Mckinnie/Hutch and Joe Thomas/Steinbach . . . that is hella praise right there . . . after 9 games.
Tony Sparano - The coach is a fan, I love it . . . the passion he has brought to this team, whether on the sidelines or in the lockeroom just is sensational . . . he has done an amazing job.
Negatives:
1. Special Teams - EVERYBODY EXCEPT TED GINN - Attrocious . . . yea the holding calls and blocks in the back that were not called did not help, but everything from the stupid holding on the Ginn return, to the missed tackles, to Bess returning punts . . . to the lack of depth on kickoffs, to the punts with no hang time from Fields . . . I mean just horrible all around, and the stats back this up as we have the WORST special teams unit in the league when it comes to coverage. Atleast Fields came thru with a good punt at the end, but man we gotta tighten up. When the season started people thought we would struggle on O and D, but be ok with ST . . . its like the opposite, which I guess is a good thing . . . but I still want our ST to be better. Horrid.
2. Chad Six Pack - I can't crucify him, because he doesn't make many mistakes, but that single play helped Seattle stick around and almost win . . . and Chad has to know he needs to eat that football, I'm sure he does, but when he threw it I was like "oh no"
3. RG - I think we should have just kept Donald Thomas inactive . . . isn't he healthy by now? lol . . . seriously, we gotta figure out RG, Murphy? Alleman? someone nees to step up and hold that position down. Everybody is getting blown up at RG.
Thats all I'm gonna list as negative . . . we are 5-4, and we have another favorable matchup next Sunday . . . lets handle business against Oakland, get to 6-4 and go from there . . . I love the Dolphins and they got alot of people smiling down here in South Florida and all over the country who take pride in their play . . . keep up the good job fellas . . . We Believe!!
