Because we got a Mike Sherman as our OC we have some history into who he's had in the past this is my list of guys to watch for!

QB Matt Flynn
HB Ryan Grant
FB John Kuhn
WR James Jones (this is a guy who is under contract still with GB but I think with there depth at WR they would take a 4th for him and at 28 yr old he is a interesting possibility)
OL Scott Wells

DC Kevin Coyle has been in CIN for years now as a secondary coach this is the players to watch for

DT Pat Sims
OLB Manny Lawson
CB Leon Hall
CB Adam Jones
FS Reggie Nelson

Thoughts? Anybody I missed?

Don't know what that is ^^^ but it is great lol. Of those names, I like Flynn, Manny Lawson, and all of the secondary guys from the Bengs

Lawson at olb and dansby at ILB for me...Ireland said he thinks hell do fine in there

Wonder what type of money Flynn's gonna pull with 2 career starts.

5 year 50 million is almost guaranteed for him.

Anyways, I sure hope we pick up Nicks. That's my free agent target.

Yeah...I have been a Lawson fan since him and Mario came out of the draft at ncstate.I would love that.he can be that 4-3 DE also.so I think that is a very strong possibility.

Jones signed a 3-yr. contract w/ GB in July
He mentioned that man. Haha.

But anyways, no to Pacman.... Leon Hall is going to lose some SERIOUS speed after he tore his Achilles. As for Flynn, yes and no. Yes if we don't grab Manning, no if we do. He's just not going to be worth the 60M being handed to him is all.

But I do believe this year teams HAVE to spend at least 98-99% of their cap, as a part of the new CBA rules. Nubs, can you confirm this?

But, from that list, I only like Flynn, Hall, Wells, and Lawson. James Jones drops wayyyyy too many balls.

· League-wide commitment to cash spending of 99 percent of the cap in 2011 and 2012.
· For the 2013-2016 seasons, and again for the 2017-2020 seasons, the clubs collectively will commit to cash spending of at least 95 percent of the cap.

You are correct, sir.

I think Leon Hall tore his Achilles this year, so I would pass on him!!! Never the same player after that injury. Nelson would be great cause I think we cut Bell. Lawson would be fine if the money is right. I would love to sign Flynn and Nicks!!! Mario Williams would give us a top 5 4-3 Defense. This year should be exciting for once.

Stephen McGee last year of his contract with the Cowboys, former Mike Sherman QB

Now if some around here are down on Matt Flynn, who has played in the WCO offense and played well, why would they want to take Stephen McGee? McGee had never played in the WCO and in his only significant NFL playing time he pretty much sucked. The Cowboys were never in contention in that game against the Eagles, he got a garbage time TD at the end to keep from getting shut out. He had 24 completions for 182 yards, less than 8 yards per completion...if that's not captain checkdown I don't know what is.

No thanks.

There's a point that has to be brought up about the salary floor.

The new CBA made the salary floor a LEAGUE minimum, but they made the enforcement on an individual team basis pretty complicated. For instance, teams like the Buccaneers still spent way below that salary floor, just as they did during the uncapped/unfloored year. The key is the teams with the most revenue in the league (forget whether it's the five or ten teams with most revenue) have to collectively donate enough money to make up for the lower revenue teams which did not spend up to the salary floor. The rich teams pool this money and then I believe it's divvied out to players using the performance-based compensation system that has been in place for years and years and years, but has been a little under-funded (possibly until now) and so the actual bonuses for that performance were relatively minor.

That's how the league gets to a league-wide salary floor that is 95 percent in the first year, and then 98 to 99 percent in all proceeding years. I don't know the exact rules that govern which teams are allowed, individually, to spend under the salary floor, or why they're allowed to do it. I just know that they are.
