A team source told Scout.com that OLB Calvin Pace is less than a 50-50 shot to re-sign with Arizona at this point. Pace, who was a backup at defensive end the previous three seasons, is coming off of a breakout season after moving to outside linebacker with 98 combined tackles, 6.5 sacks, and 6 passes defensed. Pace took over the starting job after OLB Chike Okeafor suffered a torn biceps tendon during training camp.

He is 6'4" 272 and is only in his 5th season. He could be a starter at strongside OLB for us in a Parcells's 3-4.

Definitely worth a look, although I'd rather not break the bank on any major FA's this year.

I think our OLBs will be Porter, and JT
But for how much longer? Both are over 30 years old with a high salary cap number. Sooner or later we have to get younger and perhaps faster at the position.

Porter should have never been signed in the first place...

Also the phins could use Abraham Wright as a olb whom they drafted last yr out of Colorado

wright shoul dbe back and like2god pace wont break bank bro. its annoying thats lal u say.

I've been saying this for weeks now. Calvin Pace and Ken Hamlin will probably be our best FA signs IMO. I liked Pace, he was supposivly a "bust" before this year, and I believe that. But once he was converted from DE ===> OLB this year, he just exploded. Goes to show, he's more of an OLB'er ;).

Whether he should have been signed or not signed is irrelevant at this point. He's here and played pretty damn good the second half of the season.

It's a figure of speech bro. I honestly think that we will have to overpay any FA that we get because of our rebuilding situation. Not many FA's, well not many quality FA's concerned with winning will be looking to join a team that just went 1-15 and is looking at 2 or 3 years of rebuilding.

I disagree that we are going to have to spend more than the majority of teams to get a FA to sign....this is the NFL, and while we were the worst last year, things change so fast, that I don't think that it will affect FA that much. Plus, we have a guy running things that has PROVEN that he takes bad football teams and makes them good....FAST.

As I look at the league, I don't see that many teams that I feel strongly should be favorites to win one before we do. Tell me that any of these teams' pronosis for being Champions (not just playoff teams....but Champions) is that much better than ours:

Jets, Bills, Ravens, Bengals, Texans, Raiders, Chiefs, Broncos, Redskins, Vikings, Bears, Lions, Bucs, Saints, Falcons, Panthers, 49ers, Cardinals, Rams.

they were ALL better than us last year....but who among them has the high draft picks, the cap room and the PROVEN winner at the helm?

Are we guaranteed anything? No. Will one of these teams win a title in the next 2 years? in today's NFL, probably.....but I would be willing to bet even money against anyone that we win a Championship before any one of them.

bottom line of my long drunken rant.....I don't think that we are a place that Free Agents try to avoid.

yea i dont know how long JT will be here but i think Joey Will be here for the rest of his contract and i think that ends in 4 or 5 years

Must just be me? I have the feeling the first concern is going to be focused on the lines, controlling the line of scrimmage wins games. If a decent FA is available im sure wed take a look but NT seems to be a concern with Traylor gone. Living in Ohio only get to see a few games a year, and know very little about some of the backup offensive linemen, just my thoughts.

So we aren't the only team with money to spend. But if you look at Parcells history, he doesn't spend alot of money on FA's in his first year at a new stop.

And the one area that I really really disagree with you on is when you said that there aren't many teams that will win a SB before we do. Bro, we suck. We have alot of holes to fill, we went 1-15 for a reason. ;) And that is going to make it tough to convince FA's to sign with us.
