Now, let me start by saying.........I love the guy and hes my favorite current 'phin but.....Jason Taylor has given this franchise nothing but his best and is in my opinion one of the classiest players in the game. I think we owe it to him, if he wants to moved to a Contender, to let him go. Miami is in a all-out rebuilding mode and we need to look the future. Now, obviously the "should we trade JT" thing is nothing new, but I've seen all the threads with trade possibilities involving JT and it seems nobody is mentioning something I see as a possibility......Keep in mind this is hypothetical, but its sounds real interesting to me and since I haven't seen it here or anywhere else(please tell me if someone has) I thought I would mention it.....

I heard that the Eagles were very interested in putting together some type of trade for Jared Allen before he went to the Vikes, but that KC was asking for more than they were willing to let go. Philly lost Kearse last season and had a terrible pass rush all year..... obviously this was the reason they were interested in Allen- they need an upgrade at DE. Now, its obvious that Lito Sheppard won't be an Eagle after Saturday now that they signed Samuel to that ridiculous deal, and CB is one of Miami's major needs. If the fins were to offer JT (age 33) for Sheppard (age 27) straight up, with maybe a late round throw in, do you think we should take it? Do you think this scenario is even a possibility? We don't lose a pick but, we also don't gain one. The key here is, we solve the CB issue and still keep both 2nd round picks to fill other needs. I know Lito has had injury problems (kinda) lately, but hes still young at 27, is a two time Pro Bowler and is just one year removed from his last Pro Bowl season. I don't think the phins would settle for anything less than a late 1st/early second for Taylor anyway, but in this case, everyone keeps their picks and still get what they want. With all the needs we have, and with the possibility of filling one of those needs with a big time player and not losing a major pick in the process, sounds pretty interesting...........

I've also thought of the possibly of an Eagles trade ... but everyone know's how desperate the Eagles are to unload Lito (since his name has been linked to freakin every trade coming out of Philly this offseason) Parcell's would as for more. I'm think maybe something of this nature:

Philly Gets:
DE Jason Taylor

Miami Gets:
CB Lito Sheppard
Philly's 2nd round pick (#49 overall)

This way Philly would keep there #1 and presumably get that #1 receiver they need and get a Pro Bowl DE basically in round 2.

I'm just not on the Lito Sheppard bandwagon . . . he is ONLY 27? No offense . . . we have 3 CB's that are in their late 20's . . . . I want a guy who is 22 . . . and I am not trading JT for a 27 year old CB . . . I want draft picks. Lito has not been that impressive . . . because if he was . . . they would have gave him that big contract and not Samuel.

Now if they want to discuss #19 overall (obviously we would give them JT and pick/picks back) or #49 overall . . . then I am fine with that . . . but I don't want Lito for JT . . . sorry. (I think Lito and #49 is a bit unreasonable on our part and a little bit of a unrealistic trade)

No way Philly gives up Lito and a 2nd. Maybe Lito and a 4th

2nd is way to much when they are throwing in a pro bowl level player

Well the rumor in Buffalo is that IF Philly sees the player they want at 11

The Bills will trade the 11 overall for the 19th and Lito. So that puts 3rd round Value on Lito. Which IMO he is worth.

He's worth more when he's healthy and less when he's not, so that's a good compromise. :D

JT i dont think is going anywhere...esp as long as miami is only going to trade for a 1st rounder. i would be happy with a LATE 2nd
like Tampa or Dallas.

thats just my opinion......toss in another 7th rounder too :)

Well, the reason IMO we are asking for a 1st is this. We initially wanted a 2nd and 4th for him. Or so goes the rumor. We have only been offered a 3rd so far.

By upping the price to a 1st we can then settle for a 2nd which is what we initially wanted. If someone pays a 1st. GREAT!!!!

right now if the best offer any team has offered for JT is a 4th round pick (per john clayton), the only way philly would agree in a trade for the 34 yr old to be JT...is a straight up trade, no pick would be added...wouldn't be surprised if the 'eagles' ask "MIA" to throw in a late pick "with" JT for Lito Sheppard.

u guys need to understand. the reason that BP has stated emphatically that JT isn't going anywhere is because no one is willing to give more than a 2nd day pick for JT. so BP considers JT more worth "staying" in MIA rather than opening up another hole by trading him for only to obtain a 4th round pick, a late one at that. that would at best get us a "potential" project, not a sure starter.

so if PHI was to agree to send us Sheppard for JT, it would at "best" be a straight up deal, not one that includes another pick, unless it is "us" throwing in the extra pick.

obviously, the 'only' reason that BP is asking for a 1st round pick for JT is because he needs one in order to trade up for a matt ryan. the #32 pick wont do it.

Why do you think he'll be available at the 26th pick. I've never heard of BP ever wanting to trade up, he always wants to trade down and accumulate more picks. I've never seen BP ever think so highly of a guy that he'd change his whole draft philosophy to get him.

Not that it can't happen, I just don't see it happening.

not what i said...obviously, in order to use the #26 pick 'and' other picks to "trade up" and get matt ryan. of course, matt ryan wont get pass BAL at most and could go to ATL at #3.
