Which of these scenarios would you like best?
A) Free agency: adalius thomas
Draft: Levi Brown, Ryan Khalil
Overall Outlook: our oline is finally set for the next 4-6 years AND we add
a 27 year old de/olb to get after the passer. We don't pick up help in the secondary, get younger on dline, or get a new franchise quarterback. The offense starts with culpepper starting but most likely results in cleo lemon filling in behind this stud oline. Our running game will be one of the best in the league and Cameron makes better use out of Chambers and Mcmichael putting up not spectacular, but above average numbers.
B) Free Agency: Kris Dielman
Draft: Brady Quinn, lamar woodley
Overall Outlook: We add a solid olineman in dielman but there are definitely still some holes at C. Culpepper starts the season but by week 7 Brady Quinn is starting and performing like matt leinart in his rookie season, solid yet a little inconsistent. Lamar woodley steps in at olb immediately and provides a great dimension for our front 7. We don't get younger on our dline and we do not upgrade the secondary. Our wide receiving core remains the same.
C) Free Agency: Ken Hamlin, Steinbach
Draft: Alan Branch, Robert Meachem
Overall Outlook: The fins pick up a solid safety in free agency who most likely ends up starting alongside bell. We draft a stud NT after we release kevin carter, zgonina and allow holliday and traylor to leave. We also draft a sick wr in meachem after he falls to us 2nd round. Our team still has questions at QB, C, olb, and cornerback.
D) Free Agency: Donte Stallworth, Mike Gandy
Draft: Reggie Nelson, brian leonard , drew stanton
Overall Outlook: We pick up a decent but not spectacular starting LT in gandy which is hard to find in this league. We also add Stallworth to our wr corps. Our offense adds two good but not great starters and we still have question marks at qb, c, and probably wr. Brian leonard is a sick fb and Cam likes to use his fb on some running plays. On defense, we pick up a stud safety in nelson and move jason allen to cb to play the nickel. Our front 7 still is aging and we dont get younger at all. However, based on cuts and such, matt roth and rodrique wright end up starting while fred evans, manny wright and vickerson rotate in our dline.
So which scenario do you want best? Personally i would like to pick up a young stud on defense either at olb or db and then adress 3 of these qb/C/wr/de/ in the first 3 rounds of the draft. This thread is to see the overall consensus of fin fans on what we can do this offseason. I tried to vary the different scenarios but obviously some of these can mitch and match (like taking quinn first round in most of these instead of adding a de or lt first round).
Vote Away, feel free to leave comments about the different scenarios- i obviously understand there are much better ones out there but i tried to make them realistic (i wasnt gona make a scenario where we sign adalius thomas and nate clements and then draft quinn, and a couple studs 2nd and 3rd round). Our cap room only allows us to sign most likely 1 big name player if that and Asante Samuel and Nate Clements are not gonna be touchable for us.
