I have a leering feeling that the Patriots could be a suprise candidate to snatch Brady Quinn:

1)They went against their normal strategy in free agency and went wild early.

2)Tom Brady isn't getting any younger and they really have no one waiting in the wings, and we all know how difficult it is to find a replacement when your star QB leaves. If they can make a smooth transition right into Brady Quinn it allows them to possibly keep their winning ways.

3)Charlie Weis (Belicheck's former right hand man) bred this kid and moulded him to their design.I'm sure there is an information pipeline running strongly between Weiss and Belicheck at all times about Quinn.

4)The Patriots are in excellent position to trade up. They can offer one or both of their first round picks.

5)We all know how Belicheck loves stealing players from us a division rival(Damn you Belicheck!)

This is my longshot prediction. Who knows what will come draft day that is part of its appeal. What do you guys think?

Brady might not be 20, but neither is he at the end of his career. Your looking at Quinn sitting for 4-5 years at least, unless the Pats feel like ditching TB at some point (why would they?).
The Pats are gearing up for a few SB runs here, would make ALOT more sense for them to trade up for someone like Landry, Carriker, Staley etc than Quinn who would be a non factor for years.

Dont see it happening at all.

I think it makes sense on paper, but logistically it doesn't at all.

1: Brady (Tom) is only 29, he still has PLENTY of good years in him.

2: Matt Cassel has actually looked pretty good the time he has filled in for Brady.

3: No WAY they invest that much money in a QB while Tom still has a BUNCH of great (ugh that KILLS me to say) years left.

4: Given all the insanely good moves they have done already, I don't see them moving up to #6 (assuming the Washington trade becomes reality) and take a guy that will sit for a good 5+ years over an immediate contributor like Landry or someone else.

I'd take my chances with a lottery ticket before betting on this move. Like the others said, if BQ came out in the draft 3-4 years from now, I can see it being a perfect situation, but he would sit for too long to be worth it right now.

Tom Brady will turn 30 years old this year and is still one of the best QBs in the NFL. He has shown no sign of slowing down and drafting Quinn, who will have to sit for atleast 3 years makes no sense.

New England's two first round picks wouldn't be enough for them to move up into the Top 7 for Quinn or anybody else.

I think we dont have to worry about the patriots picking up Brady Quinn

Yeah, It's pretty safe to say that they are the least of our worries in the Quinn hunt, aside from Arizona and Indy, lol.

that makes absolutely no sense. The patriots want to win a superbowl this year and that means they will use their picks with that in mind. Brady has at least 5 or six years left and he's proven to be quite durable. You theory is in truth riddiculous....

Although I agree with you about the trade up part I think you have the wrong player.

Everything NewEngland has done this year is opposite what they have done in the past...They have built this team through the draft first and foremost.

They have never relied on free agent signings ala Washington TO MAKE THIS TEAM THE FRANCHISE IT IS AND HAS BEEN UP TO THIS POINT IN TIME!

This year is different as they have garnered most of the free agents available and have paid a hefty price in the process which seems to point in the direction of "THAT ONE LAST DRIVE FOR THE SUPER BOWL"

They have the draft picks to move up and I think with that ammo they could trade up and aquire the one player in the draft that most people regard as a cant miss prospect that will make a difference by being a huge playmaker from day1.

That's why I wouldn't be surprised to see "CALVIN JOHNSON"
as a member of New England this year and with Brady throwing the rock
how incredible would that make New England...Even though I would be
very upset to see this scenerio take place it is a possibility!!!

no that's pretty stupid .......tom brady has many years to go........

thats probably not the smartest things you have ever said. brady is there franchise QB and will be there for many many years. why would they trade up and loose many many picks for a backup QB for 8 years. just doent make scense.

Why Why Why would he ahve to sit for 3 yrs? Why?! WOW, I'm so sick of hearing this. According to you guys, Vince young was suppose to sit his entire career b/c he was going to be a BUST. Look what he did wiht a crappy team. He did pretty good and dont give me that compeltion percentage or rating whichever it was taht was low. he played 23432 better hten any of our QB's and hes a rookie. He has the fire that will get him somewhere, the competitive edge.

Quinn will sit 3 yrs only if brady is leaving in 3 yrs or else he is not a Project let alone a 3 yr learner.

I think he meant Quinn would sit behind Tom Brady if NE drafted him, because Brady (tom) is still playing at his peak. Not that Quinn would have to sit no matter who drafts him.
