I know we have a need at safety, but the Eagles are talking about trading up to get a safety. Article says Dolphins possible partner.

Eagles want to trade up for a safety

With four of the first 70 picks in next week's draft, the Philadelphia Eagles have the ability to put together a package to trade up. And that's reportedly what they want to do, if they can trade up to a spot where one of the top two safeties will be available.

Peter King of SI.com reports that the Eagles want to move up into first half of the first round, and that they'd like to get either Eric Berry of Tennessee or Earl Thomas of Texas. (Our mock draft has Berry going seventh and Thomas going 21st.)

King writes that the Dolphins, who have the 12th pick, could be the Eagles' trading partners. Dolphins boss Bill Parcells would like to have a second-round pick, but Miami currently doesn't have one after the Brandon Marshall trade.

For Philadelphia, moving up would likely involve the Eagles giving up their own first-round pick (24th overall) and one or two of their other picks, which include the 35th, 55th and 70th overall.

I saw this. If Philly will do it, I'd trade #12 for #24 and #35. The question is whether Philly likes Earl Thomas. Berry's not going to be there at 12 (meaning if the Eagles want Berry only, they'll have to give a lot more to get him), but Thomas likely will be there, and 12 is a great spot to get him.

Dolphins can grab Kindle or Graham at that spot and Cody with #35.

Houston is another possibility. They have mentioned a desire to move up.

And though it's never advisable to trade within the division, according to the trade value chart, our #12 is worth 1200 points. New England's three #2s total 1260 points. If there's someone that New England REALLY wants (Derrick Morgan or Dez Bryant), might be a good trading partner.

So we'd end up with:

2(#44)
2(#47)
2(#53)
3(#73)
4(#110)
6(#173)
6(#174)
6(#179)
7(#212)
7(#219)
7(#252)

I'd love to make the trade with Philly although passing on a top notch FS, NT or OLB would be tough to do. But it's pretty deep and we'll still find good value a few spots down.

I'd trade with new England. If that's all we had.
Otherwise they'd find another partner and we'd walk out empty handed.

If Berry is there at 12 we take him, if not make the trade for there first, 2nd and late rd pick. We need at least 2 OLB, hopefully one of the top 5 will drop to 24.

dont forget the 5 we got for Ginn, to many picks I think we need to pick up some for next yr.

Man I hope the first 10 teams pick only OL and Qbs and the top DT. Leave all the good OLB and Safeties in the board by pick 12 and u will see how many teams will be calling the Dolphins to swap picks and we can accumulate a lot of picks.

24th pick, this could be a long night! I'll probably watch the entire 1st round anyway it's just that I'll be pretty fired up waiting for the Fins 1st pick. If they could still land Brandon Graham at 24 and get additional picks that would be great!

If we can get #24 and #37 in exchange for #12, that'd be great.

If not, #24, #55, and #87 would also be swell.

And, if both of those get shot down, #24, #55, and #105 would be acceptable.

Those are the three I'm seeing right now.

. . .

Also, M. Burnett and N. Allen could probably bot start from day one.

I wonder if the heavens did part and Berry fell to 12 what we would do cause you know a lot of teams would be contating us then I would even be happy with trading up and taking Graham or Mays

Mays sucks. I don't want him. Sure he's big and fast but the only hard hits he put on people were from angles and blindsides, rarely straight up. He sucks worse than Gibril in coverage too. Golden Tate embarrassed him. I personally think he'd be a better linebacker in the league than a safety. He would only have to put on like 10-15 pounds to do so.

We've already traded for a "sure thing" (well at least if he can stay on the field) for our 2nd, I'd rather hold onto the first and do the same thing if Berry is available or if not, by grabbing Earl Thomas. Visions of Ed Reed controlling both our 08 Ravens games make me resolute on not passing up one of those 2 guys, even if it meant more picks.
